The Hathershaw College is a coeducational, Secondary Academy for 11- to 16-year-olds in Oldham, Greater Manchester, England. In 2007, Ofsted rated the school as "good". In 2010, Ofsted described it as "good with outstanding features". In 2014, the school was judged to be requiring improvement overall. In 2016, Ofsted described the school as "good". School history As the 'Hathershaw Technical High School', it opened in 1955; it had a selective intake. The school was housed in three blocks (a main building, a science block and a craft/engineering block). The school was sponsored by the aviation manufacturer Avro, and the ground plan of the main building was inspired by the outline of a Lancaster bomber. It competed for intake with Oldham's state grammar schools, but offered a more technical syllabus. Technology College
In the United Kingdom, a Technology College is a specialist school that specialises in design and technology, mathematics and science. Beginning in 1994, they were the first specialist schools that were not CTC colleges. In 2008, there were 598 Technology Colleges in England, of which 12 also specialised in another subject. Colin Waldron
Colin Waldron (born 22 June 1948) is an English former football defender. He spent thirteen seasons in the Football League and two in the North American Soccer League. Waldron spent his youth in Oldham, Lancashire, beginning his career with nearby Bury, making 20 appearances. He then joined Chelsea before the 1967–68 season. Nine games into the season, Burnley purchased his contract for £30,000. He made his Burnley debut on 28 October 1967. He quickly became a fixture at centre back and was named captain in his second season with the club. Burnley won the Second Division in 1973 and were invited to play in the 1973 FA Charity Shield in which Waldron scored the winning goal against Manchester City. ''Crocodile Shoes'' is a British 13-part television drama set across two series and was made by the BBC. It was screened on BBC1 in 1994 (Series 1) and in 1996 (Series 2). The first series, comprising seven episodes, was written by and starred Jimmy Nail as a factory worker who becomes a country and western singer.
