The Hair (film)
''The Hair'' ( fi, Karvat) is a 1974 Finnish erotic dark comedy thriller film written, produced and directed by Seppo Huunonen. It was loosely based on Lionel White's 1962 suspense novel ''Obsession'', like Jean-Luc Godard's 1965 French film '' Pierrot le Fou''. It tells the story of a middle-aged man who becomes deeply involved with the affairs and criminal connections of a mysterious girl. The main roles are played by Mikko Majanlahti and dancer Arja Virtanen, of which ''The Hair'' was the actress's only film. Virtanen's voice has been replaced by the voice of actress Tiia Louste. Lionel White
Lionel White (9 July 1905 – 26 December 1985) was an American journalist and crime novelist, several of whose dark, noirish stories were made into films. His books include ''The Snatchers'' (made into a film as ''The Night of the Following Day'' directed by Hubert Cornfield and starring Marlon Brando), ''The Money Trap'' (made into a movie by Burt Kennedy starring Glenn Ford and Elke Sommer), ''Clean Break'' (adapted by Stanley Kubrick as the basis for his 1956 film '' The Killing''), ''Obsession'' (adapted by Jean-Luc Godard as the basis for his 1965 film '' Pierrot le fou'' and by the Finnish director Seppo Huunonen for the 1974 film '' The Hair''), and '' Rafferty'', adapted by 1980 Soviet Lenfilm production of the same title. Erik Kristian “Eeki” Mantere (25 January 1949, in Helsinki – 30 April 2007, in Espoo) was a Finnish musician that became famous in the 1970s as Viktor Kalborrek, soloist of the band Hullujussi. After Hullujussi disbanded in 1976, Mantere continued to perform as Viktor Kalborrek until the new millennium, albeit mainly in restaurants, department stores and TV programs. Playing a character that strongly resembled Kalborrek, he acted in the Seppo Huunonen movie ''The Hair'' from 1974. In 1989, he played Kalborrek in a supporting role in the Visa Mäkinen film '' Screws on Loose''. In the Juha Tapaninen movie, the '' Iskelmäprinssi'' from 1991, Mantere dropped the Kaborrek act and played an Italian fashion guru.
