''The Grasshopper'' (russian: Попрыгунья, Poprygunya) is a 1955 Soviet Union, Soviet drama film directed by Samson Samsonov based on a short story of the same title by Anton Chekhov. It was nominated for a British Academy of Film and Television Arts, BAFTA award for BAFTA Award for Best Film, Best Film in 1957. Mikhail Andreyevich Gluzsky (russian: Михаи́л Андре́евич Глу́зский; 20 November 1918 – 15 June 2001) was a Soviet and Russian theater and film actor. He starred in the 1972 film, ''Monologue'', which was entered into the 1973 Cannes Film Festival. An actor in more than 130 films between his film debut 1939 and death in 2001, he was named a People's Artist of the USSR in 1983. Biography Mikhail Andreyevich Gluzsky was born in Kiev in 1918.
