The Glasspack
The Glasspack is an American psychedelic punk rock band from Louisville, Kentucky, United States. The band was formed in 1999 by frontman and native Louisvillian "Dirty" Dave Johnson, in hopes of giving a better alternative to the classic and hard rock played over-and-over on the radio. The Glasspack has since recorded one garage EP, two garage albums, two studio albums, and numerous cover songs, as well as toured the U.S. relentlessly. Three of the LPs were released on Detroit's Small Stone Records. The band takes its name from the high-flow fiber-glass filled automobile muffler known as a glasspack, which are known for being louder than traditional mufflers. The band's music from their 2004 release ''Bridgeburner'' has been featured in MTV shows ''Viva La Bam'' (Season 3, Episodes 7&8) and ''Homewrecker'' (Season 1, Episodes 104&107). The Ladybirds are a Louisville, Kentucky-based retro garage rock band. History The Ladybirds first took root when Jaxon Lee Swain and Sarah Teeple met in Bloomington, Indiana over an affinity for classic R&B and shared memories of Americana the likes of riding about in a car with AM oldies blasting. ''Homewrecker'' is an American reality show on MTV that was hosted by '' Jackass'' star Ryan Dunn. ''Viva La Bam'' is an American reality television series that stars Bam Margera and his friends and family. The show is a spin-off from MTV's '' Jackass'', in which Margera and most of the main cast appeared. Each episode had a specific theme, mission, or challenge which was accomplished by performing pranks, skateboarding, and enlisting the help of friends, relatives, and/or experts. Although partly improvised, the show was supported by a greater degree of planning and organization. Glasspack
A glasspack is a type of automobile muffler in which the exhaust gas passes straight through the center of the muffler. The basic design consists of one smaller tube centered inside of a larger outer tube that is enlarged or swollen in the middle. The gap between the swollen part of the larger outer tube and the smaller diameter center tube is packed full of fiberglass, hence the name. Glasspacks are an old, simple, and relatively inexpensive muffler design that are effective at reducing back pressure, but not very effective at muffling noise. They are usually easy to identify by their simple tube design. Most are painted or powder coated red, but not all. The For Carnation
The For Carnation are a slowcore/post-rock band from Louisville, Kentucky, formed in 1994. The band was formed by Brian McMahan, who is the only constant group member. McMahan's previous band Slint hinted at the distinctive sound and sombre aesthetic he would create in The For Carnation. To date they have released two EPs and one self-titled album: ''Fight Songs'' (Matador Records, 1995), ''Marshmallows'' (Matador, 1996), and ''The For Carnation'' (Touch and Go Records, 2000). Squirrel Bait
Squirrel Bait was an American punk rock band from Louisville, Kentucky active from 1983 to 1987. Squirrel Bait's dense, moody, melodic hardcore sound, featuring pronounced tempo shifts, foreshadowed the grunge sound of the late 1980s as well as math rock. Squirrel Bait, along with Hüsker Dü, are often noted as precursors to the emocore ("emotional hardcore") sound that arose from the D.C. hardcore punk scene with bands like Rites of Spring, Beefeater and Fugazi. Evergreen (band)
Evergreen was a Southern California underground post-hardcore band from the early-to-mid-1990s. They were influential in the development of emo in the 1990s. They had several releases over their lifespan, including two 7-inches, a split 7-inch with Los Angeles hardcore/screamo band Still Life, and a much sought-after 12-inch, most of which were released on Anomaly Records. They still have a 7-inch out on San Diego's Gravity Records. They are notorious amongst record collectors due to the rarity of the "Seven Songs" LP.
