Glass Mountain, on the Inyo National Forest, is one of the tallest peaks in Mono County, California. The peak lies southeast of the shoreline of Mono Lake and is the highest point on the long sinuous Glass Mountain Ridge. The Glass Mountain Ridge forms the northeast boundary of Long Valley Caldera. It consists of a sequence of lava domes, flows, and welded pyroclastic flows of rhyolite composition that were erupted between 2.1 and 0.8 million years ago. Glass Mountain (Siskiyou County, California)
Medicine Lake Volcano is a large shield volcano in northeastern California about northeast of Mount Shasta. The volcano is located in a zone of east-west crustal extension east of the main axis of the Cascade Volcanic Arc and the Cascade Range. The thick shield is from east to west and from north to south, and covers more than . The underlying rock has downwarped by under the center of the volcano. The volcano is primarily composed of basalt and basaltic andesite lava flows, and has a caldera at the center. The Medicine Lake shield rises about above the Modoc Plateau to an elevation of . Glass Mountain (Utah)
The Glass Mountain is a geologic feature in Lower Cathedral Valley of Capitol Reef National Park consisting of large selenite (mineral), selenite (gypsum) crystals forming a mound or plug 15 feet high. Gypsum was deposited as sea water evaporated 165 million years ago and then buried under other sediments. The gypsum migrated upwards through fractures in the sediments forming layers and, very rarely, domes like the Glass Mountain. There is only one exposed selenite plug within the park and one other just outside which has been reduced to ground level by collectors. Climate Spring and fall are the most favorable seasons to visit Glass Mountain. The Glass Mountains (also known as Gloss Mountains or Gloss Hills) are not actually mountains, but a series of mesas and buttes that are part of the Blaine Escarpment that extends from the Permian red beds of northwestern Oklahoma in Major County. Donald Barthelme (April 7, 1931 – July 23, 1989) was an American short story writer and novelist known for his playful, postmodernist style of short fiction. Barthelme also worked as a newspaper reporter for the ''Houston Post'', was managing editor of ''Location'' magazine, director of the Contemporary Arts Museum in Houston (1961–1962), co-founder of ''Fiction'' (with Mark Mirsky and the assistance of Max and Marianne Frisch), and a professor at various universities. He also was one of the original founders of the University of Houston Creative Writing Program. Life Donald Barthelme was born in Philadelphia in 1931. His father and mother were fellow students at the University of Pennsylvania. ''The Glass Mountain'' is a 1949 black and white British romantic film drama. It starred Michael Denison, Dulcie Gray and Valentina Cortese. The film was a popular success of its day, and was re-released in the UK in 1950 and 1953. It features acclaimed classical vocalist Tito Gobbi as himself, with the orchestra and chorus of the Venice Opera House. The theme music by Nino Rota is memorable, and was also a contemporary hit.
