''The Girl from Abroad'' (German: ''Das Mädchen aus der Fremde'') is a 1927 German silent film directed by Franz Eckstein and starring Carl Auen, Frida Richard and Albert Steinrück. The film was made by , a German production company backed by the Soviet Union. It attracted little attention in the press, and soon disappeared from cinemas.Murray p. Franz Eckstein (2 April 1878 – February 1945) was a German screenwriter and film director of the silent era.Reimer & Reimer p.215 He made a number of films for the National Film company during the 1920s. Hermann Picha
Hermann Picha (20 March 1865 – 7 June 1936) was a German stage and film actor. Picha was extremely prolific, appearing in over 300 short and feature films during the silent and early sound eras. Picha played a mixture of lead and supporting roles during his career. He played the title role in the 1920 film '' Wibbel the Tailor'', directed by Manfred Noa. Jacek Rotmil
Jacek Rotmil (1888–1944) was a Russian-born art director and production designer who worked on 100 films during his career Following the First World War, Rotmil entered the booming German film industry and worked prolifically until 1933. Following the Nazi rise to power, Rotmil went into exile in Poland where he was employed frequently on Polish and Yiddish productions. He had first become involved in the Polish film industry in 1930 when working on the sound version of the Polish film ''Exile to Siberia'' in Berlin. After the Germans took over Poland in 1939, Rotmil went into hiding. He was later arrested and executed in Pawiak prison shortly before the Warsaw Uprising.
