The Garling Report (formally titled the ''Final Report of the Special Commission of Inquiry into Acute Care Services in NSW Public Hospitals'') is a 2008 report prepared by the office of the Australian Commissioner Peter Garling, SC following a series of high-profile medical mishaps in the New South Wales public hospital system. For the duration of the commission, it was well covered by mass media. Its final 139 recommendations stimulated considerable discussion and controversy. Peter Garling
Peter Garling, RFD (born in 1952 in Kuala Lumpur, British Malaya) is an Australian judge, a Judge of the Supreme Court of New South Wales, the highest court in the state of New South Wales. Garling is noted for his involvement in multiple high-profile public inquiries and royal commissions. Through his contributions, in particular the Garling Report, Garling has made significant recommendations to improve the public health system of New South Wales. Graeme Stephen Reeves
Graeme Stephen Reeves (born 1949) is a deregistered former gynecologist and obstetrician from New South Wales, Australia, dubbed the Butcher of Bega in the press. Reeves was deregistered in 2004 for performing obstetric procedures at Pambula and Bega hospitals despite being banned from obstetrics, and in September 2008 was charged in relation to alleged sexual and indecent assaults and genital mutilation at Bega, Pambula and Richmond between 2001 and 2003.
