Carmine Gallone (10 September 1885 – 11 March 1973) was an early Italian film director, screenwriter, and film producer, who was also controversial for his works of pro-Fascist propaganda and historical revisionism. Considered one of Italian cinema's leading early directors, he directed over 120 films in his fifty-year career between 1913 and 1963. John Kitzmiller
John Kitzmiller (December 4, 1913 – February 23, 1965) was an American actor who worked in his native land, as well as Italy and the United Kingdom. Kitzmiller achieved his greatest fame as a popular and versatile actor in Europe, making an estimated forty European films. He was the first black actor to win the Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Actor in 1957 for his role in the Yugoslav (Slovenia) film '' Valley of Peace''. Cloe (or Cloë) Elmo (April 9, 1910 – May 24, 1962) was an Italian operatic dramatic mezzo-soprano, particularly associated with the Italian repertory. She was born in Lecce and began singing at an early age. By the age of seventeen, she had begun her studies at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome with Edwige Chibaudo, and later with Rinolfi and Pedreni. Due to her wide vocal range, she was initially thought to be a soprano. She made her debut in Cagliari as Santuzza in ''Cavalleria rusticana'' in 1934. Within a year, she joined the Teatro alla Scala in Milan as Meg Page in Verdi's ''Falstaff''. Soon she was given the part of Azucena in ''Il trovatore'', which quickly became her signature role and was her debut role at the Metropolitan Opera in 1947. Caterina Mancini (10 November 1924 – 21 January 2011) was an Italian dramatic coloratura soprano, primarily active in Italy in the 1950s. Mancini was born at Genzano di Roma. She made her debut in 1948, as Giselda in ''I Lombardi'', in Florence. In 1950, she appeared in Bologna and Venice, in ''Norma'', and made her debut at La Scala in Milan, in '' Lucrezia Borgia'', in 1951. The same year, she sang in many Verdi operas on radio broadcast (RAI) to commemorate 50th anniversary of Verdi's death. Galliano Masini (7 February 1896 – 15 February 1986) was a leading Italian operatic tenor, particularly associated with the ''spinto'' (lyric-dramatic) roles of the Italian repertory.
