''The Flying Dutchman'' or '' De Vliegende Hollander'' is a 1995 Dutch comedy film directed by Jos Stelling. Plot Flanders, 16th century. The random son of a rogue is trusted to the bike of a crazy minstrel and goes in search of his father to the cold sea. With him he takes a girlfriend, a golden chalice and, most importantly, faith in his goal. However, fate is trying to take away from the Dutch all that he has, even life. Jos Stelling
Jos Stelling (born 16 July 1945) is a Dutch film director and screenwriter. Career He made his debut as a film director in 1974 with ''Mariken van Nieumegen'', which was selected for the official Cannes competition in 1975. In 1981 he founded the Dutch Film Days a festival for Dutch directors to give them the possibility to show their films and to create an informal platform for the filmmakers. He continued to serve as chairman and director until the 1991 edition. After he abdicated the festival was renamed the Dutch Film Festival. In 1989 he was a member of the jury at the 16th Moscow International Film Festival. In 2002 he was a member of the jury at the 24th Moscow International Film Festival. He was also the president of the jury of the 1st Odessa International Film Festival. Stelling is founder and owner of two arthouse cinemas in Utrecht, Springhaver (since 1978) & Louis Hartlooper Complex (since 2004). Josse De Pauw
Josse De Pauw (born 15 March 1952) is a versatile Belgian actor, film director, dramatist, author and columnist. He was married to modern dance performer Fumio Ikeda for over thirty years. Theatre After graduating from the Royal Conservatory in Brussels De Pauw founded the mime theatre group Radeis International (1976), and after that Schaamte, the theatre company that would be the start of the Brussels Kaaitheater. He both writes and performs in highly regarded theatre plays such as ''Larf'' and ''Weg'' (both with music by Peter Vermeersch, and has received many awards for his works, such as the Océ Podium Prize for his entire oeuvre in 2000. Eric Anthony Roberts (born April 18, 1956) is an American actor. His career began with a leading role in ''King of the Gypsies'' (1978) for which he received his first Golden Globe Award nomination. Daniel Emilfork
Daniel Emilfork (7 April 1924 – 17 October 2006) was a Chilean stage and film actor who made his career in France. Biography Emilfork was born in San Felipe, Chile after his Jewish socialist parents from Kiev fled a pogrom in Odessa. At age 25, he left Chile and settled in France, because, according to his friend Alejandro Jodorowsky, he didn't feel comfortable being a homosexual man in Chile. Emilfork's face was out of the norm and had made him a choice character actor for films such as ''The City of Lost Children'' (1995). He specialized in roles of villains. Previously he had played in ''The Devil's Nightmare'' (1971), ''Travels with My Aunt'' (1972) and ''Fellini's Casanova'' (1976), in Roman Polanski's ''Pirates'' (1986) and in '' Taxandria'' (1994). Bert André
Hubertus Antonius Gerardus Maria "Bert" André (August 6, 1941 – May 21, 2008) was a Dutch actor who started his career in theater and later became known to the greater audiences through his roles in various movies and TV series. Biography He started his career as a teacher in Maastricht but moved to Antwerp in 1964, where he studied theater improvisation in what later was known as the Studio Herman Teirlinck. Among his course mates were Jan Decleir and Mike Verdrengh. One of the first big screen roles was his portrayal of the neighbour Neuteboom in the first and third film about the Flodder (1986) family which resulted in consequent movies and TV series.
