The Flood (2010 Film)
''Mabul'' (also known as ''The Flood'') is a 2010 Israeli drama film starring Ronit Elkabetz and directed by Guy Nattiv. It is a feature-length extension of a previous short film by Nattiv. On July 26, 2010, it was nominated for several Ophir Awards, including Best Film and Best Actress (Elkabetz). The film was shown at the San Francisco Jewish Film Festival in 2011. Plot Yoni's Bar Mitzvah approaches but his family continues to disintegrate as his parents prepare to separate. Things take a turn when Yoni's autistic older brother returns to the family home and challenges the family to reconcile and put an end to their dysfunctional ways in time for Yoni's Bar Mitzvah celebration. Guy Nattiv
Guy Nattiv (born May 24, 1973) is an Israeli film director, screenwriter and producer who lives and works in the United States. His film ''Skin'' won an Oscar for best short film at the 91st Academy Awards. As of May 2021, Nattiv and Moshe Mizrahi are the only Israeli directors who have won an Academy award. In 2019, he received IFF Achievement in Film Award at the 33rd Israel Film Festival. Early life Early in his career Nattiv worked in advertising. He served as head copywriter and then chief creative director for the advertising agency "Publicis Groupe" for 7 years. Nattiv graduated in 2012 from "Camera Obscura film school" in Tel-Aviv, Israel. Ina Fichman is a Canadian film producer and president of Intuitive Pictures, based in Montreal. She is best known for the 2022 film ''Fire of Love''. She won the Gemini Award for Best History Documentary Program for '' Undying Love'' in 2003. Ronit Elkabetz
Ronit Elkabetz ( he, רונית אלקבץ; 27 November 1964 – 19 April 2016) was an Israeli actress, screenwriter and film director. She worked in both Israeli and French cinema. She won three Ophir Awards and received a total of seven nominations. Biography Elkabetz was born in Beersheba in 1964 to a religious Moroccan Jewish family, originally from Essaouira. She grew up in Kiryat Yam. Her mother spoke French and Moroccan Arabic, but her father insisted on speaking only Hebrew. Elkabetz was the oldest of four children, with three younger brothers. Her younger brother Shlomi also became a director, and they worked together on the trilogy '' Gett: The Trial of Viviane Amsalem''. Elkabetz never studied acting and started her career as a model. The Ophir Awards ( he, פרס אופיר), colloquially known as the Israeli Oscars or the Israeli Academy Awards, are film awards for excellence in the Israeli film industry awarded by the Israeli Academy of Film and Television. The award, named after Israeli actor Shaike Ophir, has been granted since 1990. San Francisco Jewish Film Festival is the oldest Jewish film festival in the world, and currently the largest with a 2016 attendance figure of 40,000 at screenings in San Francisco, Berkeley, Oakland, San Rafael, and Palo Alto.
