The Firs Stadium was a speedway stadium in Cromer Road, Norwich Norwich () is a cathedral city and district of Norfolk, England, of which it is the county town. History The stadium was built on an empty field situated in the Hellesdon area on the west side of where the Holt Road and Cromer Road meet. The address was listed as Aylsham Road but this is a little misleading because although the Cromer Road is effectively a continuation of the Aylsham Road it was unequivocally on the Cromer Road. It is believed to have been named after the nearby Firs House. Motorcycle speedway, usually referred to simply as speedway, is a motorcycle sport involving four and sometimes up to six riders competing over four anti-clockwise laps of an oval circuit. The motorcycles are specialist machines that use only one gear and have no brakes. Boundary Park Stadium
Boundary Park Stadium was a greyhound racing stadium in Boundary Road, Norwich. Origins In 1932 the site chosen for the Boundary Park Stadium was on the north side of the Boundary Road and on the west side Boundary Avenue. At the same time a new street called Overbury Road was being constructed and the gardens of the houses would be adjacent to the back of the stadium. The stadium was the second to be constructed in Norwich because the Firs Stadium had already opened during July 1932. The Firs stadium was very close by at the end of the Cromer Road and just five minutes walk away from Boundary Park. The cost of building Boundary Park was over £25,000.
