The Fireman (1931 Film)
''The Fireman'' is a short animated film distributed by Universal Pictures, and stars Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. It is the 39th Oswald film by Walter Lantz Productions, and the 95th in the entire series. Plot Oswald and his buddy Hoodoo the polecat are stowing away on a fire truck. But as the fire truck runs a slightly rough ride, Oswald and Hoodoo fall off the vehicle. Momentarily Hoodoo's weepy nephew comes to the scene, desperately wanting to be with them. Oswald does not think Hoodoo's nephew should come along but decides to play with the little polekitten for a moment. The three go on to play hide and seek where in Oswald and Hoodoo hide, and the polekitten will try to find them. The rabbit and the polecat try to run as far they could while the polekitten is counting. Nevertheless, Hoodoo's nephew gets to them quickly. Oswald, Hoodoo, and Hoodoo's nephew continue walking. Walter Lantz
Walter Lantz (April 27, 1899 – March 22, 1994) was an American cartoonist, animator, producer and director best known for founding Walter Lantz Productions and creating Woody Woodpecker. Biography Early years and start in animation Lantz was born in New Rochelle, New York, to Italian immigrant parents Francesco Paolo Lantz (formerly Lanza) and Maria Jarvis (changed to Jarvis to avoid prejudice) from Calitri. According to Joe Adamson's biography ''The Walter Lantz Story'', Lantz's father was given his new surname by an immigration official who anglicized it. Walter Lantz was always interested in art, completing a mail-order drawing class at age 12. He was inspired when he saw Winsor McCay's animated short "Gertie the Dinosaur". While working as an auto mechanic, Lantz got his first break. Bill Nolan (animator)
William Charles Nolan (June 10, 1894 – December 6, 1954) was an American animated cartoon writer, animator, director, and artist. He is best known for creating and perfecting the rubber hose style of animation and for streamlining Felix the Cat. Career Nolan first began his career in 1913 as a newspaper cartoonist, then worked for Raoul Barre and Kings Features until 1918. Then, in 1924 to 1926, he animated and designed Felix the Cat. He then moved to Winkler to animate on Krazy Kat again. Nolan went to the Walter Lantz Studio from 1929 until 1935, where he animated and briefly voiced Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. Nolan also worked at MGM on ''The Captain and the Kids'' series based on the comic strip ''The Katzenjammer Kids''. He then worked with Fleischer Studios where he worked on Popeye and Gulliver's Travels. During WWII, Nolan was in the US Navy drawing technical manuals with Timm Aircraft. The Big Cartoon DataBase (or BCDB for short) is an online database of information about animated cartoons, animated feature films, animated television shows, and cartoon shorts. The BCDB project began in 1997 as a list of Disney animated features on creator Dave Koch's local computer. In response to increasing interest in the material, the database went online in 1998 as a searchable resource dedicated to compiling information about cartoons, including production details such as voice actors, producers, and directors, as well as plot summaries and user reviews of cartoons. In 2003, BCDB became a 501(c) non-profit corporation. On June 24, 2009, it was announced by creator Dave Koch on his BCDB forums that the site had 100,000 titles. Due to system issues that have been unable to be resolved, all cartoon information on the site is non-existent after 2019. Users are no longer able to contribute to the site due to the issue.
