The Final Judgment
''The Final Judgment'' is a 1915 American silent drama film produced by B. A. Rolfe and distributed by Metro Pictures. Actor Edwin Carewe directed. It stars Ethel Barrymore in her second silent film and first as a player for then new Metro Pictures, later to become a part of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in 1924. A complete print of this film was preserved by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. Picture Play
Picture Play (1941–1956) was a British Thoroughbred racehorse and broodmare, who raced during World War II and was best known for winning the classic 1000 Guineas in 1944. As a two-year-old she won twice from four races before winning the 1000 Guineas by four lengths on her three-year-old debut. She was injured in her only subsequent race and was retired to stud. She went on to become a very successful and influential broodmare, whose descendants have won seven classics and many other major races. Background Picture Play was an exceptionally good-looking bay mare bred by her owner Jim Joel who had inherited a substantial stable of horses on the death of his father Jack Barnato Joel in 1940. Edwin Carewe (March 3, 1883 – January 22, 1940) was an American motion picture director, actor, producer, and screenwriter. His birth name was Jay John Fox; he was born in Gainesville, Texas. Career After brief studies at the Universities of Texas and Missouri and a period of work with regional theatrical groups, Carewe moved to New York City in 1910, where he became a member of the Dearborn Stock Company. Although Jay Fox was his given name, Carewe chose Edwin (from stage actor Edwin Booth) and Carewe from a character he was playing. Carewe was on stage as an actor before he worked for Lubin studios. Later, he directed films for MGM, First National Pictures, First National, Universal Studios, Paramount Pictures, and United Artists.
