Fighting Chance is a United States patient advocate organization that provides counseling for cancer patients and caregivers. Independent from any hospital and funded solely by charitable contributions, Fighting Chance, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, provides free access to hard-to-find resources and professional counseling from the time of diagnosis through treatment to survivorship. Headquartered in Sag Harbor, New York (state), New York, the organization operates on the East End of Long Island and also offers e-counseling outside the area. Organization A 16-member board of directors, composed primarily of cancer survivors and caregivers, meet quarterly to guide the overall direction of the organization and plan annual events. ''The Fighting Chance'' is a 1955 American drama film directed by William Witney and written by Houston Branch. The film stars Rod Cameron, Julie London, Ben Cooper, Taylor Holmes, Howard Wendell and Mel Welles. The film was released on December 15, 1955 by Republic Pictures. Plot After a dispute over money, trainer Bill Binyon and a young jockey, Mike Gargan, quit working for thoroughbred owner Al Moreno, whose girlfriend Janet Wales leaves him as well. The book details Warren's life from her upbringing in Oklahoma City to her unexpectedly successful bid for the United States Senate in 2012. Content The main theme of Warren's book centers on the values of hard work and the benefits to be reaped from never giving up. In it, she describes how her experiences as a child affected her worldview of things, especially in regards to the financial status of middle class America. John Ridgway (sailor)
John Manfield Ridgway (born 8 July 1938) is a British yachtsman and rower. Biography Ridgway was educated at the Pangbourne Nautical College and the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. In 1966, whilst a Captain in the Parachute Regiment, Ridgway, together with Chay Blyth, rowed across the North Atlantic in a 20 ft open dory called English Rose III. They successfully completed this in 92 days as second team after George Harbo and Frank Samuelsen in 1896. In 1967 Ridgway and Blyth were awarded the Medal of the Order of the British Empire for Meritorious Service for their trip which was still considered impossible then. In 1964 he married Marie Christine d’Albiac, daughter of Air Marshal Sir John d'Albiac.
