The Field Mice were an English indie rock band on the independent record label Sarah Records. They had top 20 success in both the singles and albums UK Independent Charts. Career The Field Mice initially formed as a duo from South London suburb of Mitcham comprising Robert Wratten (for vocals and guitar) and Michael Hiscock (on bass guitar). A mini-LP or mini-album is a short vinyl record album or LP, usually retailing at a lower price than an album that would be considered full-length. Kiss And Make Up (The Field Mice Song)
"Let's Kiss and Make Up" is a song by The Field Mice from their 1989 album, ''Snowball''. It is better known in the form of Saint Etienne's cover version of 1990, which retitled it "Kiss and Make Up" and was released as a single. In popular music, a cover version, cover song, remake, revival, or simply cover, is a new performance or recording by a musician other than the original performer or composer of the song. Ian Catt
Ian Catt is a British record producer and multi-instrumentalist associated with several popular indie groups, including Saint Etienne, with whom he has been a touring member. He has also collaborated with Saint Etienne's vocalist Sarah Cracknell on her solo album, ''Lipslide''. Catt also produced several albums for Heavenly and is a long-standing collaborator of Bobby Wratten, working with his groups The Field Mice, Northern Picture Library, Trembling Blue Stars and Occasional Keepers. He was also an official member of the latter group for a short time. His solo project, Katmandu, released a single and album on the Vinyl Japan label in 1994. He was the main producer on Saint Etienne's 2012 release '' Words and Music''. Missing The Moon
"Missing the Moon" is a single by The Field Mice. It was released as a 12" vinyl record. It was the group's final proper single release (a live cover of Loop's "Burning World" was later issued as a flexidisc) and marks the culmination of their experiments with electronica, being a heavily synthesised dance pop single. Annemari Davies sings the verses, Bobby Wratten the choruses (with backing vocals by Davies). It was made Single Of The Week in New Musical Express with an enthusiastic review by Ian McCann. "Missing the Moon" the first 12" single released on Sarah Records. Interviewed in ''Melody Maker'' in 1996 to mark the closure of the label, founder Matt Haynes chose "Missing the Moon" as his favourite Sarah Records release, though he also claimed that many fans of the label "hated" it due to its dance crossover style and use of the 12" format. Swan Song
The swan song ( grc, κύκνειον ᾆσμα; la, carmen cygni) is a metaphorical phrase for a final gesture, effort, or performance given just before death or retirement. The phrase refers to an ancient belief that swans sing a beautiful song just before their death since they have been silent (or alternatively not so musical) for most of their lifetime. The belief, whose basis has been long debated, had become proverbial in ancient Greece by the 3rd century BC and was reiterated many times in later Western poetry and art. Swans learn a variety of sounds throughout their lifetime. Their sounds are more distinguishing during courting rituals and not correlated with death. The Wake (UK Band)
The Wake are a British post-punk, synth-pop and later indie pop band, formed in Glasgow in 1981 by Gerard "Caesar" McInulty (formerly of Altered Images), Steven Allen (drums) and Joe Donnelly (bass), the latter replaced by Bobby Gillespie. Steven's sister Carolyn Allen also joined on keyboards, and remained in the band thereafter. Gillespie left the band in 1983, replaced by Martin Cunning and then by Alexander 'Mac' Macpherson. ''C86'' is a cassette compilation released by the British music magazine ''NME'' in 1986, featuring new bands licensed from British independent record labels of the time. As a term, C86 quickly evolved into shorthand for a guitar-based music genre characterized by jangling guitars and melodic power pop song structures, although other musical styles were represented on the tape. In its time, it became a pejorative term for its associations with so-called "shambling" (a John Peel-coined description celebrating the self-conscious primitive approach of some of the music) and underachievement.
