The Fiction Circus
''The Fiction Circus'' was a Brooklyn- and Austin-based online literary magazine and art collective that published short fiction and essays on the arts. It existed between 2008 and 2014. The group also held staged multimedia fiction readings accompanied by electronic music and incorporating visual art and theater as a frame narrative. The writers of the site operated under names such as Miracle Jones, Stephen Future, Geoff Sebesta, Goodman Carter, and Xerxes Verdammt, and the main magazine content included writing about classical and contemporary literature, including fiction in non-traditional media. ''The Fiction Circus'' has been featured in '' Slashdot'', ''The New York Times'' and '' Wired'', among other online news sources. The Youth International Party (YIP), whose members were commonly called Yippies, was an American youth-oriented Radical politics, radical and counterculture, countercultural revolutionary offshoot of the Free Speech Movement, free speech and anti-war movements of the late 1960s. It was founded on December 31, 1967. They employed theatrical gestures to mock the social status quo, such as advancing a pig ("Pigasus the Immortal") as a candidate for president of the United States in 1968.
