The Fear Woman
''The Fear Woman'' is a lost 1919 American silent drama film produced and distributed by Goldwyn Pictures and starring Pauline Frederick. Some of the filming took place in Berkeley, California. Plot As described in a film magazine, because her father warns her that alcoholism is a trait that has been inherited by the Winthrops over four generations, Helen Winthrop (Frederick) breaks her engagement to Robert Craig (Sills) for fear of bringing children into the world that are predisposed to drunkenness. They separate and Helen visits Stella Scarr (Travers), an old friend. When Stella foolishly deceives her husband Sidney (Northrup), Helen shields her and is disgraced. Percy Farwell (Hiers), newly rich, becomes enamored of her, and his mother (Titus) hires Robert to break up their supposed affair. Samuel Goldwyn
Samuel Goldwyn (born Szmuel Gelbfisz; yi, שמואל געלבפֿיש; August 27, 1882 (claimed) January 31, 1974), also known as Samuel Goldfish, was a Polish-born American film producer. He was best known for being the founding contributor and executive of several motion picture studios in Hollywood. He was awarded the 1973 Golden Globe Cecil B. DeMille Award, the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award (1947) and the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award (1958). Early life Goldwyn was likely born in July 1879, although he claimed his birthday to be August 27, 1882. He was born as Szmuel Gelbfisz in Warsaw to Polish Jewish Hasidic parents, Aaron Dawid Gelbfisz (1859–1894), a peddler, and his wife, Hanna Frymet (''née'' Fiszhaut ; 1860–1925). Walter Hiers
Walter Hiers (July 18, 1893 – February 27, 1933) was an American silent film actor. Biography Born in 1893, during his two decade-long acting career spanning from 1912 to 1932, Hiers acted in 101 films. He was a particularly prolific actor who could star in over 10 films a year. Lydia Yeamans Titus (12 December 1857 – 30 December 1929) was an Australian-born American singer, dancer, comedienne, and actress who had a lengthy career in vaudeville and cinema. She was remembered on stage for her ''Baby-Talk'' act and a popular rendition of the English ballad, ''Sally in Our Alley''. In appreciation, King Edward VII once presented Titus a gold bar pin with the opening notes of ''Sally in Our Alley'' etched in diamonds. Emmett Carleton King (May 31, 1865 – April 21, 1953) was an American actor of the stage and screen. Biography King began his acting career on stage. His first Broadway appearance was in 1899, in the farce, ''The Father of His Country'', which he wrote and starred in.
