''The Faces of My Gene'' () is a 2018 Chinese fantasy adventure comedy film co-written and directed by Guo Degang and starring Yue Yunpeng and Lin Chi-ling. The film premiered in China on 16 February 2018. The film picks up the story of a writer and his ancestors after he crosses ancient times. Plot Bei Xiaobei (Yue Yunpeng) is a self abased writer because he feels himself too fat. Because of his poor appearance, he often ran into a wall in real life. Later, he unwittingly finds a long dusty family tree. And accidentally crosses through the ages to meet with his ancestors. Guo Degang () is a Chinese crosstalk (''xiangsheng'') comedian and actor. Guo's film appearances include ''The 601st Phone Call'', ''Just Another Pandora's Box'', and ''Mystery''. Zhurong
Zhurong (), also known as Chongli (), is an important personage in Chinese mythology and Chinese folk religion. According to the ''Huainanzi'' and the philosophical texts of Mozi and his followers, Zhurong is a god of fire and of the south. Kua Fu
Kuafu () is a giant in Chinese mythology who wished to capture the Sun. He was a grandson of Houtu. Story One day, Kuafu decided to chase and catch the Sun. He followed the Sun from the East to the West, draining the Yellow River and the Wei River (all rivers and lakes crossing his path) to quench his burning thirst. However, the big rivers were also unable to quench his thirst, and as he searched for more water, he eventually died of dehydration. The wooden club he was carrying grew into a vast forest of peach trees called the Deng Forest (). In one version, Kuafu turns into a mountain range. In modern Chinese usage, the story of Kuafu chasing the Sun () is used to describe a person who is brave and optimistic and willing to overcome all the obstacles to reach the goal. Wu Yue (born 25 April 1976) is a Chinese film and television series actor. Gonggong () is a Chinese water god who is depicted in Chinese mythology and folktales as having a copper human head with an iron forehead, red hair, and the body of a serpent, or sometimes the head and torso are human, with the tail of a serpent.
