The Fables (band)
The Fables are a Celtic rock band formed in 1997 in St. John's, Newfoundland, by Glenn Simmons and D'Arcy Broderick. The original lineup of the band consisted of Simmons, Broderick, Billy Sutton, Dave Fitzpatrick, and Clyde Wiseman. In addition to extensive touring, the band released four studio albums from 1998 to 2007. History The Fables was the brainchild of Glenn Simmons and fiddler D'Arcy Broderick, who wanted to form a Celtic rock group together. Simmons had previously performed with Wonderful Grand Band, and Broderick with The Irish Descendants. The other three members of the band include Billy Sutton, who was also from The Irish Descendents, Dave Fitzpatrick, and bassist Clyde Wiseman. In 1998, the band released their first self-produced studio album, ''Tear the House Down''. Folk Rock

Wonderful Grand Band
The Wonderful Grand Band is a Canadian music and comedy group formed in 1978 in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. History The group was founded in 1978, and included comedians Greg Malone and Tommy Sexton. They released their first album, ''The Wonderful Grand Band'', in 1979. The group had an eponymous television musical variety show on CBC Television. This ran for six episodes under the title ''The Root Seller'' in 1978, before relaunching in 1980 as ''The Wonderful Grand Band'', which produced 40 more episodes between 1980 and 1983. The show starred Ron Hynes, Sandy Morris, Ian Perry, Glenn Simmons (later replaced by Steve Annan, who died in 2010), Kelly Russell (later replaced by Jamie Snider), and Rocky Wiseman (who was later replaced by Paul Stamp), as well as Malone and Sexton, who died in 1993. The Irish Descendants
The Irish Descendants are a folk group from St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. All the members, born of Irish emigrants, were workers in the Newfoundland fishing industry before forming the band in 1990 out of the remnants of two former Newfoundland bands – The Descendants and Irish Coffee. The group helped to popularise traditional Newfoundland music to a wider Canadian audience in the early 1990s, along with other bands such as Great Big Sea. Their popularity within the province itself led to their selection as the official band of the province's 500th anniversary celebrations, during which they performed for the Queen. Tension within the group caused co-frontman D'Arcy Broderick to leave soon after this period, and their lineup has frequently changed since then, with frontman Con O'Brien being the only constant member. D'Arcy Broderick
D'Arcy Broderick is a Newfoundland musician who plays fiddle, guitar, mandola, banjo, accordion and mandolin. He is best known as a former member of the popular Irish-Newfoundland bands The Irish Descendants and The Fables. He is currently performing around Newfoundland with the band Middle Tickle. Alongside of him in the band are: William Broderick (Drums), Glenn Hiscock (Mandolin, Fiddle, Vocals), Paul Hiscock (Bass, vocals) and the only remaining original band member Ron Kelly (Guitar, vocals). L'Anse Aux Meadows
L'Anse aux Meadows ( lit. Meadows Cove) is an archaeological site, first excavated in the 1960s, of a Norse settlement dating to approximately 1,000 years ago. The site is located on the northernmost tip of the island of Newfoundland in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador near St. Anthony.
