The Eyeless
''The Eyeless'' is a BBC Books original novel written by Lance Parkin and based on the long-running science fiction television series '' Doctor Who''. It features the Tenth Doctor. It was published in December 2008, alongside '' Beautiful Chaos'' and ''The Story of Martha''. This is the first of the New Series Adventures to feature the Doctor without any companions. Plot The Doctor, now on his own, is drawn to the ruins an ancient weapon at the heart of a destroyed civilisation. There he discovers survivors from the world before, people who were children when the weapon fell out of the sky and destroyed the great city, now adults heading a small tribe with offspring of their own. The tribe rests far beyond the city, away from the dangers of the decayed buildings and the ghosts of those who once lived in them. But there are new dangers arising. Lance Parkin
Lance Parkin is a British author. He is best known for writing fiction and reference books for television series, in particular '' Doctor Who'' (and spin-offs including the Virgin New Adventures and Faction Paradox) and as a storyliner on ''Emmerdale''. Doctor Who Parkin first became known in ''Doctor Who'' fan circles, writing both criticism and fan fiction. His most notable work was for Seventh Door Fanzines, including the novella ''Snare'' in the ''Odyssey'' series (which he edited for a period) and 1994's ''The Doctor Who Chronology'', a detailed timeline of events in the ''Doctor Who'' universe. The ''Odyssey'' series later included novellas by Parkin's then-girlfriend Cassandra May and his later protégé Mark Clapham. The Tenth Doctor is an incarnation of the Doctor, the main protagonist of the BBC science fiction television franchise ''Doctor Who''. ''The Story of Martha'' is a BBC Books anthology with a framing device written by Dan Abnett. David Roden, Steve Lockley and Paul Lewis, Robert Shearman and Simon Jowett write the stories presented. It features the Tenth Doctor and Martha Jones. It was published on 26 December 2008, at the same time as '' Beautiful Chaos'' and ''The Eyeless''. It takes place between "The Sound of Drums" and "Last of the Time Lords" and details Martha's journey around the world during the Master's reign over Earth.
