The Evie Hayes Show
''The Evie Hayes Show'' was an Australian television variety series starring vocalist Evie Hayes. The half-hour series debuted on 4 July 1960 and ran a season of eight episodes on Melbourne station ABV-2, and was also shown on ABN-2 in Sydney (it is not known if it was shown on ABC's stations in other cities). It is worth noting that ABC variety series of the era had intentionally shorter seasons than those on commercial television in Australia. The series aired live, with musical backing by the ABC Melbourne Dance Band. Variety show, also known as variety arts or variety entertainment, is entertainment made up of a variety of acts including musical theatre, musical performances, sketch comedy, magic (illusion), magic, acrobatics, juggling, and ventriloquism. It is normally introduced by a Master of Ceremonies, compère (master of ceremonies) or Television presenter, host.
