The Everett Resort
The Everett Resort is located in Washington, Vilas County, Wisconsin, on a peninsula between Catfish and Cranberry Lakes. Started in the 1890s, it was one of the first resorts in the area. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2008. It is situated about 4 miles east of the city of Eagle River, and is served by its post office. History The resort was established by Fred Morey in the 1890s, just as logging was winding down. In 1897, ownership was transferred to Edward Edward is an English given name. Washington is a town in Vilas County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,577 at the 2000 census. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 47.5 square miles (123.2 km2), of which, 41.4 square miles (107.2 km2) of it is land and 6.2 square miles (15.9 km2) of it (12.93%) is water. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there were 1,577 people, 683 households, and 491 families residing in the town. The population density was 38.1 people per square mile (14.7/km2). There were 1,706 housing units at an average density of 41.2 per square mile (15.9/km2). The racial makeup of the town was 98.67% White, 0.19% African American, 0.38% Native American, 0.06% Asian, and 0.70% from two or more races. Eagle River, Wisconsin
Eagle River is a city in Vilas County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,398 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Vilas County. Because of the many lakes in the area, the city is a popular vacation and retirement destination. The area contains many condominiums, seasonal vacation homes, and hunting cabins. History Origins Eagle River was the site of the first permanent Indian settlement in the Wisconsin Northwoods, located on the shores of Watersmeet Lake where the Wisconsin River and Chain O' Lakes meet.
