The Eternal Waltz
''The Eternal Waltz'' (german: Ewiger Walzer, link=no) is a 1954 West German drama film dramatizing the life of Johann Strauss II.Bock & Bergfelder p. 529 The initial story was written by Hanns Marschall and Ruth Charlotte Silbermann, and the film itself was written by Alexander Lix; the adaptation was by Paul Verhoeven (German director), Paul Verhoeven who also directed the film. It was shot at the Bavaria Studios in Munich and location filming, on location in Vienna. The film's sets were designed by the art director Franz Bi and Bruno Monden. Paul Verhoeven (; born 18 July 1938) is a Dutch filmmaker. His blending of graphic violence and sexual content with social satire is a trademark of both his Drama film, drama and science fiction films. After receiving attention for the TV series ''Floris (TV series), Floris'' in his native Netherlands, Verhoeven got his film breakthrough with romantic drama ''Turkish Delight (1973 film), Turkish Delight'' (1973), starring frequent collaborator Rutger Hauer. Eduard Strauss
Eduard "Edi" Strauss (15 March 1835 – 28 December 1916) was an Austrian composer who, together with his brothers Johann Strauss II and Josef Strauss made up the Strauss musical dynasty. He was the son of Johann Strauss I and Maria Anna Streim. The family dominated the Viennese light music world for decades, creating many waltzes and polkas for many Austrian nobility as well as dance-music enthusiasts around Europe. Eduard Strauss II
Eduard Leopold Maria Strauss (March 24, 1910 – April 6, 1969), commonly known as Eduard Strauss II to distinguish him from his grandfather, was an Austrian conductor whose grandfather was Eduard Strauss I and whose uncle was Johann Strauss III. He enrolled at University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna, and learned composition technique from Franz Schmidt. He debuted as a conductor in 1949, 50 years after the death of Johann Strauss II, and 100 years after the death of Johann Strauss I. Eduard II visited Japan in 1956. Leonard Steckel
Leonard Steckel (18 January 1901 – 9 February 1971) was a German-JewishSiegbert Salomon Prawer, ''Between Two Worlds: The Jewish Presence in German and Austrian Film, 1910-1933'', Berghahn Books (2007), p. 213 actor and director of stage and screen. Steckel was born as Leonhard Steckel in Knihinin, a Galician town that is today a district of the city Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine. He began his career as a stage actor and spent the duration of World War II in exile in Zürich, Switzerland, where he had gone to work at the Schauspielhaus Zürich. It was during this time that he began to direct. Steckel was killed in a major rail accident on 9 February 1971 in Aitrang, Germany. Hermann Thimig
Hermann Thimig (3 October 1890 – 7 July 1982) was an Austrian stage and film actor. He appeared in 102 films between 1916 and 1967. Biography Thimig came from a famous family of actors. His father, Hugo Thimig, was an actor, director and director of the Vienna Burgtheater. His siblings Helene Thimig and Hans Thimig, with whom he trained at the theater and worked together several times in films, were accomplished actors. Alexander Girardi (pronounced ) (5 December 1850 – 20 April 1918) was an Austrian actor and tenor singer in operettas. Career Girardi was born in Graz; his father was the locksmith Andreas Girardi who had migrated to Graz from Cortina d'Ampezzo. Following the early death of his father, Alexander Girardi was raised by his stepfather who put him into a locksmith apprenticeship. Against his stepfather's wishes, he joined the amateur theatre ''Die Tonhalle'', where his acting talent was discovered; this led to an engagement at the Vienna Strampfer-Theater.
