The Essential Series
''The Essential Series'' is a weekly radio show broadcast on Republic of Ireland, Irish radio station Today FM. Broadcast every Sunday between 19:00 and 20:00, each show is dedicated to a different musician or band and effectively serves as a tribute to their career, with songs from their discography interspersed with commentary from the presenter about the said band or musician. The show has no regular presenter and varies from Tony Fenton to Ann Gleeson, the most recent inductee into the show's list of hosts. She presented a special dedicated to Guns N' Roses on 23 November 2008. Some bands, such as The Beatles and U2, have featured twice. Kate Bush, R.E.M. and Christy Moore are amongst the artists to have been covered by the series in 2008. English Language

Today FM
Today FM is an Irish national commercial FM radio station, owned and operated by Bauer Audio Ireland Limited. Broadcasting since 17 March 1997, it broadcasts mostly music, with a daily news and current affairs programme. Today FM holds a licence from the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland as far as the year 2027. The station recorded pretax profits of €7.4 million on a turnover of €19.4 million in early 2009, more than twice what it was two years previously. Marconi House
Marconi House is a Grade II listed building at 335 Strand (at its junction with Aldwych) in London. It was originally built as a hotel and restaurant in 1904, designed by Norman Shaw, to serve the Gaiety Theatre next door. It then became the headquarters of the Marconi Companies from the week of May 12, 1912 to 1933 and later as the offices of English Electric. Dublin postal districts have been used by Ireland's postal service, known as ''An Post'', to sort mail in Dublin. The system is similar to that used in cities in Europe and North America until they adopted national postal code systems in the 1960s and 1970s. Ann Gleeson
Ann Gleeson is an Irish radio personality who has presented, produced and featured on numerous Today FM shows. She is from Nenagh. Early life Gleeson is the youngest of nine children, she has seven brothers and one sister. She was born and raised in Nenagh, County Tipperary. She was brought up by her mother Anne ("with an e") and her father Liam. Career Gleeson gained cult status for her slots on Tom Dunne's radio show ''Pet Sounds''. Dunne would constantly include Gleeson, whom he would refer to as his "assistant Ann", with him, in his show and the two developed a nightly competition where she would hum an obscure track for the listeners to guess. Christy Moore
Christopher Andrew "Christy" Moore (born 7 May 1945) is an Irish folk singer, songwriter and guitarist. In addition to his significant success as an individual, he is one of the founding members of Planxty and Moving Hearts. His first album, ''Paddy'' ''on the Road'' was recorded with Dominic Behan in 1969. In 2007, he was named as Ireland's greatest living musician in RTÉ's People of the Year Awards.
