Fred Paul
Fred Paul (1880–1967) was a Swiss-born British actor and film director. Paul was born in Lausanne in 1880 but moved to Britain at a young age. He was a prolific actor and director in the 1910s and 1920s, but his career dramatically declined with the arrival of sound films. Amy Brandon Thomas
Amy Marguerite Brandon Thomas (9 March 1890 – 6 May 1974) was an English film and stage actress. She was the daughter of the playwright Brandon Thomas. She is also known as Amy Brandon-Thomas. Life and career Amy Brandon Thomas was born in London, the daughter of the playwright Brandon Thomas and his wife Marguerite, and was educated privately. She married William Deane Barnes-Brand. Thomas joined the stage professionally in 1907, playing Alice Ormerod in ''A Lancashire Sailor'' at the Theatre Royal, Preston, where she also played Ela Delahay in her father's comedy, ''Charley's Aunt''. She appeared in London that Christmas at the New Royalty Theatre in the same two plays, although this time she played Kitty Verdun in ''Charley's Aunt''. Jack Raymond
Jack Raymond (1886–1953) was an English actor and film director. Born in Wimborne, Dorset in 1886, he began acting before the First World War in '' A Detective for a Day''. In 1921 he directed his first film and gradually he wound down his acting to concentrate completely on directing - making more than forty films in total before his death in 1953. He was associated with the Hepworth Studios of Walton on Thames, since his portrait appears on a studio publicity postcard when he was probably in his early twenties. He had a major success in 1930 with ''The Great Game'', one of the earliest films devoted to football and followed it up with '' Up for the Cup'' a year later. He remade '' Up for the Cup'' in 1950. Robert Williams Buchanan
Robert Williams Buchanan (18 August 1841 – 10 June 1901) was a Scottish poet, novelist and dramatist. Early life and education He was the son of Robert Buchanan (1813–1866), Owenite lecturer and journalist, and was born at Caverswall, Staffordshire, England. Buchanan senior, a native of Ayr, Scotland, lived for some years in Manchester, then moved to Glasgow, where Buchanan junior was educated, at the high school and the university, one of his fellow-students being the poet David Gray. His essay on Gray, originally published in the ''Cornhill Magazine'', tells the story of their close friendship, and of their journey to London in 1860 in search of fame. His friend, Scottish-American poet James Mackintosh Kennedy, wrote in ''Scottish and American Poems'': "Robert Buchanan, the well-known British poet and most genial and variously gifted man, visited America in 1884-85." Mary Morton
Mary Morton (21 March 1879 – 15 June 1965) was a British sculptor. Early life and education Morton was born in Stroud, England on 21 March 1879. Her father was George Morton, a surgeon who was born around 1839 in the East Indies. She attended the Bristol School of Art before studying at the modelling school of the Royal College of Art between 1911 and 1913. Professional career In 1913 Morton became a Royal West of England Academy Academician. In 1928 she became an Associate of the Royal Society of British Sculptors before becoming a Fellow in 1948. Her work was part of the sculpture event in the art competition at the 1948 Summer Olympics. She also worked closely with the Associate of the Society of Women Artists and exhibited 105 works with the society between 1913 and 1960.
