''The Eleventh Hour Guest'' (French: ''L'invité de la onzième heure'') is a 1945 French mystery film directed by Maurice Cloche and starring Jean Tissier, Blanchette Brunoy and Roger Pigaut.Rège p.229 It was shot at the Billancourt Studios in Paris. The film's sets were designed by the art directors Maurice Colasson and Georges Wakhévitch. Synopsis An inventor claims to have invented an incredible new machine which acts as a thought detector amongst other things. On the evening he unveils it to his family and intended wife, tragedy strikes and he is found dead. Maurice Cloche
Maurice Cloche (17 June 1907, Commercy, Meuse – 23 March 1990, Bordeaux, France) was a French film director, screenwriter, photographer and film producer. Best known for his Oscar-winning film ''Monsieur Vincent'' (1947) he won a 1948 Special Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. ''Monsieur Vincent,'' a dramatization of the life of St. Vincent de Paul that starred Pierre Fresnay, won the Academy Award in 1947 for best foreign film. It also was honored as the best film in France that year. Mr. Cloche, whose career spanned more than a half-century, also made spy thrillers and films with religious and social themes. His best-known films include ''La Cage aux Oiseaux'' (''The Bird Cage''); ''Le Docteur Laennec,'' the story of the inventor of the stethoscope; ''Ne de Pere Inconnu'' (''Father Unknown'') and ''La Cage aux Filles (''The Girl Cage''). Georges Wakhévitch
Georges Wakhévitch (russian: Георгий Леонидович Вахевич; Georgy Leonidovich Vakhevich; August 18, 1907 in Odessa, Russian Empire – February 11, 1984 in Paris) was a Russian-born French art director. The son of a naval engineer, he immigrated to France in 1921. He grew up in Paris, where he studied painting. He was an assistant to film director Lazare Meerson in the 1920s. Wakhévitch also designed sets and costumes for the theatre, the ballet, and the opera. His designs usually used vivid colours and successful sets for Covent Garden included '' Boris Godunov'', '' Otello'', ''Die Meistersinger'' and London's first ever staging of Verdi's '' Macbeth'' in 1960. He also provided Paris in 1956 with new sets for Gounod's ''Faust'', replacing some in use for over half a century. He was the father of avant-garde composer Igor Wakhévitch.
