''The Early Years'' is a compilation album consisting of songs that were recorded by The Starting Line in 2001. History Also referred to as the "We the People Sessions", ''The Early Years'' is a compilation album consisting of songs that were recorded by band in 2001 prior to becoming members of Drive-Thru Records. Some of the tracks appeared on the band's debut EP titled ''With Hopes of Starting Over'', while others were re-recorded and included on ''Say It Like You Mean It''. However, most of the tracks leaked onto the internet before the band released any material and were subsequently not included on any of The Starting Line's eventual albums. On October 31, 2012, Drive-Thru Records officially released the tracks in the form of a compilation album. The Starting Line
The Starting Line is an American pop punk band based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, that formed in 1999. History Early years (1999–2001) In 1999, the band that would become The Starting Line was initiated in Churchville, Pennsylvania via an e-mail from guitarist Matthew "Matt" K. Watts to vocalist/bassist Kenny Vasoli. It asked if the 14-year-old Vasoli, who was at that time in a band called Smash Adams, was interested in "Jamming and shit", as the message title read. Only a few weeks later, Vasoli found himself rehearsing with his future band-mates Watts, guitarist Mike Golla and drummer Tom Gryskewicz. Soon, the band started touring under the name Sunday Drive, selling out home-made merchandise and a self-recorded demo (music), demo cassette titled ''Four Songs''. Pop punk (or punk pop) is a rock music genre that combines elements of punk rock with power pop or pop. Drive-Thru Records
Drive-Thru Records was a California-based independent record label owned by siblings Richard and Stefanie Reines. The label was partially responsible for popularizing the pop-punk/emo merger sound of the early to mid-2000s. After facing financial obstacles in getting their bands' music into stores, Drive-Thru entered into a distribution deal with MCA/Universal. In 2003 MCA was dissolved and folded into Geffen Records. One of the clauses of that agreement was MCA/Geffen being able to sign any band of their choosing from Drive-Thru's roster. Once the Universal deal ended, they signed a contract with independent label Sanctuary Records. Starting with a new roster, the label garnered a top 10 platinum hit with "Here In Your Arms" by Hellogoodbye. ''Somebody's Gonna Miss Us'' is a two-disc live/video album by The Starting Line consisting of material that was recorded during the band's final hometown show at the Electric Factory in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The set features a full-length concert and an exclusive documentary following the band throughout the tour. History In December 2008, it was announced that the band would release a video album, titled ''Somebody's Gonna Miss Us'', early next year. Anyways (EP)
''Anyways'' is an EP by The Starting Line, and is the band's first release containing new material since 2007. The record was produced by Will Yip. History On December 14, 2015, The Starting Line announced the release date and cover art for ''Anyways''. Pre-orders were made available on the same day through the band's official website. The release date was originally scheduled for February 5, 2016, but was postponed until February 19, 2016, due to vinyl pressing issues. The first single, titled "Anyways", was released on December 17, 2015, and the band released an official music video for the track on February 2, 2016. With Hopes Of Starting Over
''With Hopes of Starting Over...'' is the debut EP from the band The Starting Line, released on June 25, 2001 by Drive-Thru Records. It featured four original songs, two of which later reappeared on their full-length album ''Say It Like You Mean It'', and a cover of Starship's "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now". In November 2005, a sixth song from the recording session surfaced, titled "Song for Her". The acoustic guitar driven song had been cut from the CD for reasons unknown, but was ultimately released online on the band's PureVolume profile. Say It Like You Mean It
''Say It Like You Mean It'' is the debut studio album by American rock band the Starting Line, following their debut EP '' With Hopes of Starting Over...''. Background Guitarist Matt Watts and drummer Mike Golla met while at a mutual friend's band practice. They formed their own band and started searching for a vocalist. The pair looked through AOL's member directory and emailed a number of people. They came across Kenny Vasoli, and subsequently met him while he was playing with his own band. He was drafted into Watts and Golla's band, which broke up after a week. The members remained in contact, and formed The Starting Line in mid-1999 under the name Sunday Drive. Kenneth Robert "Kenny" Vasoli is an American singer and musician from Pennsylvania. Vasoli is currently the lead singer and songwriter of The Starting Line, Person L, and Vacationer. Biography Kenneth "Kenny" Robert Vasoli was born May 20, 1984 in Abington, Pennsylvania, and attended Hatboro-Horsham High School. At the age of 14, Vasoli was invited to join the pop punk band The Starting Line after Matt Watts read his AOL Messenger profile. Vasoli finished high school early at the age of 17 to concentrate on music, and was 18 years old upon release of The Starting Line's debut album ''Say It Like You Mean It'' in 2002.
