The Duchess Of Benameji (film)
''The Duchess of Benameji'' (Spanish: ''La duquesa de Benamejí'') is a 1949 Spanish historical film, historical drama film directed by Luis Lucia and starring Amparo Rivelles. The film is set in the nineteenth century, with Rivelles playing dual roles as a countess and a Romani people, gypsy. The film was an expensive costume production by Spain's largest studio CIFESA. It is an adaptation of the 1932 The Duchess of Benameji (play), play of the same name by Antonio Machado, Antonio and Manuel Machado (poet and playwright), Manuel Machado. Luis Lucia
Luis Lucia Mingarro (24 May 1914, in Valencia – 12 March 1984, in Madrid) was a Spanish film director and screenwriter. His father, Luis Lucia, was the Spanish minister of communications in 1935. He studied Law and was the attorney of CIFESA film studios. As director, he discovered child prodigies Marisol, Rocío Dúrcal and made them stars. He tried the same with Ana Belén but her film debut ''Zampo y yo'' was a flop. He was interred at Cementerio de Majadahonda, Majadahonda, Madrid, Spain. Jorge Mistral
Modesto Llosas Rosell (24 November 1920 – 20 April 1972) known professionally as Jorge Mistral was a Spanish film actor. During the 1940s, he became a star in films produced by CIFESA. In the 1950s, he lived and worked in México and appeared in Luis Buñuel's '' Abismos de pasión'' in 1954. Later, in the 1960s, he directed three films. Early life Jorge Mistral was born Modesto Llosas Rosell on 24 November 1920 in Aldaia, a city located next to Valencia, Spain. His father was from Puerto Rico and his mother from Catalonia. Death Suffering from cancer, Mistral committed suicide with a gunshot while living in Mexico City, Mexico. Eduardo Martínez Fajardo (14 August 1924 – 4 July 2019) was a Spanish film actor born in Meis (Pontevedra), Spain. He appeared in 183 films, 75 plays and made 2,000 television appearances between 1947 and 2002. Biography He was born in Meis, Pontevedra on 14 August 1924, and he raised in Haro and Santander, where he studied Bachillerato. He began his career as a voice actor from 1942 to 1946, and in 1947 he made his film debut in ''Héroes del 95'', directed by Raúl Alfonso. In the 1950s he moved to Mexico, and when he came back to Spain he appeared in spaghetti westerns such as ''Gli eroi di Fort Worth'' (1965) by Martin Herbert, and '' Django'' (1966) by Sergio Corbucci.
