Dashboard Confessional is an American rock band from Boca Raton, Florida, led by singer Chris Carrabba. The name of the band is derived from the songThe Sharp Hint of New Tears off their debut album, ''The Swiss Army Romance''. History Early history (1999–2002) Dashboard Confessional's first recording was the 2000 album ''The Swiss Army Romance'', initially a solo side project of Chris Carrabba while he was in the band Further Seems Forever. The following year, Further Seems Forever, with Chris Carrabba, recorded its debut album, ''The Moon Is Down''. ''The Shade of Poison Trees'' is the fifth studio album recorded by the band Dashboard Confessional. Production and composition ''The Shade of Poison Trees'' had been recorded over 10 days in Florida with producer Don Gilmore and engineer Mark Kiczula. Recording took place at Bieler Brothers Studio with assistant engineer Matt LaPlant, and at The Dungeon with assistant engineer Joe Williams. Gilmore mixed the recordings with help from Kiczula, at Bieler Brothers Studio. George Marino mastered the recordings at Sterling Sound. ''Dusk and Summer'' is the fourth studio album by American rock band Dashboard Confessional. Background With the release of ''A Mark, a Mission, a Brand, a Scar'' (2003), Dashboard Confessional solidified its line-up of vocalist/guitarist Chris Carrabba, bassist Scott Schoenbeck, guitarist John Lefler and drummer Mike Marsh. ''The Places You Have Come to Fear the Most'' is the second studio album recorded by the American emo band Dashboard Confessional, released on March 20, 2001, through Vagrant Records. Background Dashboard Confessional started as an acoustic side project for vocalist/guitarist Chris Carrabba while he was fronting Further Seems Forever. The project's first album ''The Swiss Army Romance'' was released in early 2000 through local independent label Fiddler Records. Using his connections within the Music of Florida#Punk rock, punk scene, Carrabba was able to perform on a few tours. Though the audience wasn't used to acoustic instrumentation, Carrabba won the crowds over.
