The Double (1971 Film)
''The Double'' ( it, La controfigura / ''The Stand-in'') also known as ''Love Inferno'', is a 1971 Italian giallo film directed by Romolo Guerrieri. It stars Ewa Aulin (of '' Death Laid an Egg'' fame). The story was based on a novel called ''La controfigura'' by Libero Bigiaretti. Plot A wealthy young man named Frank (Jean Sorel), who lives off his father, is shot in a parking garage, and as he lays bleeding, he thinks back over recent past events in his life. While vacationing in Morocco with his beautiful 19-year-old girlfriend Lucia (Ewa Aulin), Frank became jealous of her interest in a young American traveler named Eddie (Sergio Doria). Frank later develops a fixation on the girl's pretty mother Nora, (Lucia Bose), and forces her physically into having sex with him. Later he follows Nora back to Rome, where he becomes convinced that now she is having relations with the young American Eddie. Giacomo Rossi Stuart (25 August 1925 – 20 October 1994) was an Italian film actor often credited as Jack Stuart or Giacomo Rossi-Stuart. He appeared in more than 80 films between 1953 and 1989. Biography Born in Todi to an Italian father and a Scottish mother, Stuart was a highly successful athlete when young; he competed in the pentathlon. Marilù Tolo (born Maria Lucia Tolo; 16 January 1944) is an Italian film actress. She appeared in more than 60 films between 1960 and 1985. Silvano Tranquilli (23 August 1925 – 10 May 1997) was an Italian stage, television and film actor. Ewa Birgitta Aulin (born 13 February 1950) is a Swedish former actress who appeared in a number of Italian and some American films in the 1960s and 1970s. She is remembered for playing the title character in the cult film ''Candy'' where she appeared with John Huston, Ringo Starr, Walter Matthau, James Coburn, Richard Burton and Marlon Brando.
