The Don Juans
''The Don Juans'' ( cs, Donšajni, also known as ''Skirt Chasers'') is a 2013 Czech comedy film directed by Jiří Menzel. The film was selected as the Czech entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 86th Academy Awards, but it was not nominated. Originally Agnieszka Holland's mini-series ''Burning Bush'' had been selected to represent the Czech Republic. However AMPAS disqualified the film, citing regulations that the film must not have initially appeared on television. The mini-series aired on Czech TV eight months prior to the re-edited version that appeared in cinemas. ''The Don Juans'' was a controversial pick as members of the Czech Film Academy did not see the film before it was chosen and because the film was poorly received by Czech critics. Jiří Menzel
Jiří Menzel () (23 February 1938 – 5 September 2020) was a Czech film director, theatre director, actor, and screenwriter. His films often combine a humanistic view of the world with sarcasm and provocative cinematography. Some of these films are adapted from works by Czech writers such as Bohumil Hrabal and Vladislav Vančura. Early life Menzel was born in Prague in 1938 to Josef Menzel and Božena Jindřichová. His father Josef was a journalist, translator and children's book writer. Menzel studied directing at the Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (FAMU) in Prague. His teachers at the academy included Czech Director Otakar Vávra. Career Menzel was a member of the Czech New Wave cinema in the 1960s. Ivana Chýlková
Ivana Chýlková (born 27 September 1963) is a Czech actress. She appeared in more than eighty films since 1983. In 1985, she graduated from Theatre Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, DAMU. At the moment she can be found at Theatre Studio DVA in several performances. The Czech Republic has submitted films for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film since 1994 (after the split of Czechoslovakia in January 1993). This is a list of submissions to the 86th Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) has invited the film industries of various countries to submit their best film for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film every year since the award was created in 1956. The award is presented annually by the Academy to a feature-length motion picture produced outside the United States that contains primarily non-English dialogue. The Foreign Language Film Award Committee oversees the process and reviews all the submitted films. Václav Jílek (actor)
Václav Jílek (born 16 May 1976) is a Czech football manager. Previously working for Sparta Prague and various Czech national teams as an assistant manager, he assumed his first spell as a first team manager at Olomouc in October 2015, replacing Leoš Kalvoda. Despite failing to avoid relegation from the Czech First League in his first season with the club, he retained his position for the 2016–17 Czech National Football League campaign. On 3 May 2017, Olomouc secured their return into the top flight with a 4–1 victory at Znojmo, after which Jílek was offered a new contract to continue his role at the club and signed to stay for another year.
