The Decapod
"The Decapod" is the third episode of the second series of the 1960s cult British spy-fi television series '' The Avengers'', starring Patrick Macnee and Julie Stevens. It was first broadcast by ABC on 13 October 1962. The episode was directed by Don Leaver and written by Eric Paice. Plot Steed is brought in to protect the President of the Republic of the Balkans from a masked assassin. He sends Venus on a phony tour, with real wrestlers. The Avengers (TV Series)
''The Avengers'' is a British Spy fiction, espionage television series, created in 1961, that ran for 161 episodes until 1969. It initially focused on David Keel (Ian Hendry), aided by John Steed (Patrick Macnee). Hendry left after the first series; Steed then became the main character, partnered with a succession of assistants. His most famous assistants were intelligent, stylish and assertive women: Cathy Gale (Honor Blackman), Emma Peel (Diana Rigg), and Tara King (Linda Thorson). Dresses and suits for the series were made by Pierre Cardin. The series ran from 1961 until 1969, screening as one-hour episodes for its entire run. The pilot episode, "Hot Snow (The Avengers), Hot Snow", aired on 7 January 1961. The final episode, "Bizarre", aired on 21 April 1969 in the United States, and on 17 May 1969 in the United Kingdom. Julie Stevens (British Actress)
Julie Stevens (born Julia Bullas; born 20 December 1936) is an English actress, presenter and singer, best known in Britain for her appearances on children's television. Career Stevens was born in Prestwich and attended Stand Grammar School. She trained as a nurse at Manchester Royal Infirmary, after starting her television career as a comedienne in TV show ''Bid for Fame''. She was a regular on '' Play School'' and ''Play Away'', and provided vocals for the schools television series ''Look and Read''. During the 1962–63 season she played Venus Smith, an occasional partner of John Steed in the TV series, '' The Avengers'', alternating with Honor Blackman's Cathy Gale. Venus was a nightclub singer, and each of her appearances included at least one musical number. Valentino Musetti (born 7 January 1943 in Pontremoli, Tuscany, Italy), often known as just Val Musetti, is an Italian-born English film and TV stuntman and retired motor racing driver. Highlights of his career include finishing third in the Shellsport International Series in 1977. In 1978 he finished fifth in the Aurora F1 Championship. In the late 1980s he drove in the FIA World Sportscar Championship. He competed in one round of the 1991 British Touring Car Championship at Donington Park. Dave Lee (born David Cyril Aarons, 12 August 1926) is an English jazz pianist, and a former orchestra leader, music arranger, songwriter and film composer. In a varied musical career, he wrote the hit song " Goodness Gracious Me", was the resident musician on ''That Was the Week That Was'', wrote the score for the movie ''The Masque of the Red Death'' (1964), had a hit jazz album in the US, and was a resident fixture in early episodes of '' The Avengers''. Harry Warren
Harry Warren (born Salvatore Antonio Guaragna; December 24, 1893 – September 22, 1981) was an American composer and the first major American songwriter to write primarily for film. He was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Song eleven times and won three Oscars for composing " Lullaby of Broadway", "You'll Never Know" and "On the Atchison, Topeka and the Santa Fe".
