The Dead Pool
''The Dead Pool'' is a 1988 American neo-noir vigilante action thriller film directed by Buddy Van Horn, written by Steve Sharon, and starring Clint Eastwood as Inspector "Dirty" Harry Callahan. It is the fifth and final film in the ''Dirty Harry'' film series and is set in San Francisco, California. The story concerns the manipulation of a dead pool game by a serial killer, whose efforts are confronted by the hardened detective Callahan. It co-stars Liam Neeson (in his first action film) and Patricia Clarkson, with Jim Carrey in his first dramatic role. It is the only film in the series not to feature Albert Popwell, an actor who had played a different character in each of the previous four films. At 91 minutes, it is the shortest of the five ''Dirty Harry'' films. Bill Gold
William Gold (January 3, 1921 – May 20, 2018) was an American graphic designer best known for thousands of film poster designs. During his 70-year career, Gold worked with some of Hollywood's greatest filmmakers, including Laurence Olivier, Clint Eastwood, Alfred Hitchcock, Stanley Kubrick, Elia Kazan, and Ridley Scott. His first poster was for ''Yankee Doodle Dandy'' (1942), and his final work was for ''J. Edgar'' (2011). Neo-noir is a revival of film noir, a genre that had originally flourished during the post-World War II era in the United Statesroughly from 1940 to 1960. Dirty Harry (character)
Inspector Harold Francis Callahan (born August 3, 1928), nicknamed Dirty Harry, is a fictional character and protagonist of the ''Dirty Harry'' film series, which consists of ''Dirty Harry'' (1971), ''Magnum Force'' (1973), '' The Enforcer'' (1976), '' Sudden Impact'' (1983), and ''The Dead Pool'' (1988). Callahan is portrayed by Clint Eastwood in each film. Albert Popwell
Albert Popwell (July 15, 1926 – April 9, 1999) was an American stage, television and film actor with a career spanning six decades. Born in New York City, Popwell started as a professional dancer before taking up a career in acting. Popwell made his professional debut on Broadway at age 16 in ''The Pirate.''
