The Davenport Hotel Collection
The Davenport Hotel Collection is a brand collection of four upscale hotels in Spokane, Washington. All the hotels are located in Downtown Spokane. The brand is owned by KSL Capital Partners and operated by the Davidson Hospitality Group. History Creation of the brand The roots of the hotel brand coincide with the restoration and 2002 reopening of the historic Davenport Hotel in Downtown Spokane. At the time, the brand collection consisted of just the historic hotel, and was merely known as ''The Davenport Hotel''. In January 2007, Walt Worthy opened a new, 328-room, 21-floor hotel tower across the street from the historic hotel. Despite being a separate building with a separate architecture and theme, the tower was operated as part of the historic hotel. To reflect this, brand name was updated to ''The Davenport Hotel and Tower''. Downtown Spokane or Riverside is the central business district of Spokane, Washington. The Davenport Hotel is a hotel located in Spokane, Washington. Originally a successful high-end restaurant, it is one of the possible places where the first Crab Louis (reportedly named after Louis Davenport) was created and served. The hotel was designed by architect Kirtland Cutter and built in 1914 for $2 million ($ in dollars) with an opulent lobby and new amenities for the time such as air conditioning, a central vacuum system, pipe organ, and dividing doors in the ballrooms. Commissioned by a group of Spokane businessmen to have a place to host and entertain their guests, the hotel is named after Louis Davenport, an influential businessman and the first proprietor and overseer of the project. Whitten Block
The Whitten Block is a historic five-story building in Spokane, Washington. It was designed by architect Lorenzo M. Boardman, and built in 1890 for investor Leydford B. Whitten at a cost of $40,000. With Tenants included a dry goods store, a flower shop, a shoe repair store, a candy store as well as clothing stores. In the 1990s the Whitten building and adjacent Miller building were renovated to be the Hotel Lusso. The building once was the location of Louis Davenport's restaurant before the construction of his hotel and currently as part of the Hotel Lusso, is part of The Davenport Hotel Collection.
