The Dangerous Maid
The Dangerous Maid is a 1923 American silent film, silent historical film, historical comedy-drama film produced and distributed by Joseph M. Schenck Productions and directed by Victor Heerman. Based upon the novel ''Barbara Winslow, Rebel'' by Beth Ellis, Elizabeth Ellis, it was distributed through First National Pictures, Associated First National Pictures. Plot As described in a film magazine review, the James Scott, Duke of Monmouth, Duke of Monmouth's 1685 Monmouth Rebellion, rebellion in England fails. Monmouth adherent Barbara Winslow disguises herself to lead his pursuers astray. She falls into the hands of the Royal troops. Later, she obtains documents compromising Judge George Jeffreys, and forces him to sign pardons for all involved. Victor Eugene Heerman (August 27, 1893 – November 3, 1977) was an English-American film director, screenwriter, and film producer.Vazzana, Eugene Michael (2001). ''Silent Film Necrology.'' Marjorie Daw (born Marguerite E. House; January 19, 1902 – March 18, 1979) was an American film actress of the silent film era. She appeared in more than 70 films between 1914 and 1929. Career Born in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Daw was the daughter of John H. House. She took her stage name from '' Marjorie Daw'', a short story by Thomas Bailey Aldrich. Daw began acting as a teen to support her younger brother and herself after the death of their parents. She made her film debut in 1914 and worked steadily during the 1920s. She retired from acting after the advent of sound film.
