The Dandy Warhols
The Dandy Warhols are an American alternative rock band, formed in Portland, Oregon, in 1994 by singer-guitarist Courtney Taylor-Taylor and guitarist Peter Holmström. They were later joined by keyboardist Zia McCabe and drummer Eric Hedford. Hedford left in 1998 and was replaced by Taylor-Taylor's cousin Brent DeBoer. The band's name is a play on the name of American pop artist Andy Warhol. The band gained recognition after they were signed to Capitol Records and released their major label album debut, '' ...The Dandy Warhols Come Down'', in 1997. In 2001, the band rose to new levels of fame after their song "Bohemian Like You" enjoyed extensive exposure due to being featured in a Vodafone advertisement. The list has passed through various name changes and has expanded from a Top 10 to a Top 100. ''Welcome to the Monkey House'' is the fourth studio album by American rock band The Dandy Warhols. The album was recorded between September 2001 and December 2002, and released on May 5, 2003 through record label Capitol. The album was originally mixed by Grammy Award-winning soul music engineer Russell Elevado, but Capitol Records were unhappy with releasing it, instead opting for a more polished, synthpop-influenced mix by Nick Rhodes of Duran Duran. The original mix of the album was later released as ''The Dandy Warhols Are Sound'' in 2009. The album's lead single "We Used to Be Friends" was the theme song to the popular TV series ''Veronica Mars'' as well as its subsequent film adaptation. ''Thirteen Tales from Urban Bohemia'' is the third album by American rock band The Dandy Warhols, released on June 12, 2000, through record label Capitol. It is considered their breakthrough album, largely owing to the song "Bohemian Like You" being featured in a notable Vodafone advertisement. Four singles were released from the album: " Get Off", "Bohemian Like You", " Godless" and "Horse Pills" (the last in Australia only). This is the band's first album to feature their new drummer Brent DeBoer, Taylor-Taylor's cousin, who joined the band following the departure of their original drummer Eric Hedford, during the tour of their previous studio album. Capitol Records, LLC (known legally as Capitol Records, Inc. until 2007) is an American record label distributed by Universal Music Group through its Capitol Music Group imprint. ''...The Dandy Warhols Come Down'' is the second studio album by American rock band The Dandy Warhols. It was released on July 15, 1997, by Capitol. Three singles were released from the album: " Not If You Were the Last Junkie on Earth", "Every Day Should Be a Holiday" and "Boys Better". Tim/Kerr
Tim/Kerr (also known as T/K) was an American independent record label in Portland, Oregon, United States, run by Thor Lindsay and Thomas "Tim" Kerr IV from 1985 until 1999. Between 1978 and 1984 Lindsay and Kerr were also co-owners of an independent record store in Portland called Singles Going Steady (not to be confused with the later store in Seattle of the same name). In a 1996 Interview with Billboard magazine, Lindsay stated that the label had been founded originally to release a collaboration between William S. Burroughs and Gus Van Sant titled ''The Elvis of Letters''. The label also released albums by Everclear and The Dandy Warhols, both of whom were later signed by Capitol Records. ''Dandys Rule OK'' is the debut studio album by American alternative rock band The Dandy Warhols, recorded from 1994 to 1995 and released on 6 April 1995 by Tim/Kerr Records. Three singles were released from the album: "Ride", "The Dandy Warhols T.V. Theme Song" and "Nothin' to Do". The Official Charts (legal name: The Official UK Charts Company Limited) is a British inter-professional organization that compiles various "official" record charts in the United Kingdom, Ireland and France. In the United Kingdom, its charts include ones for singles, albums and films, with the data compiled from a mixture of downloads, purchases (of physical media) and streaming. UK Albums Chart
The Official Albums Chart is a list of albums ranked by physical and digital sales and (from March 2015) audio streaming in the United Kingdom. It was published for the first time on 22 July 1956 and is compiled every week by the Official Charts Company (OCC) on Fridays (previously Sundays). It is broadcast on BBC Radio 1 (top 5) and found on the OCC website as a Top 100 or on UKChartsPlus as a Top 200, with positions continuing until all sales have been tracked in data only available to industry insiders. However, even though number 100 was classed as a hit album (as in the case of The Guinness Book of British Hit Albums) in the 1980s until January 1989, since the compilations were removed this definition was changed to Top 75 with follow-up books such as The Virgin Book of British Hit Albums book only including this data.
