''The Crab'' is a 1917 American silent film, silent drama film directed by Walter Edwards (director), Walter Edwards and starring child actress Thelma Salter and actor Frank Keenan. Its production was supervised by Thomas H. Ince with distribution by Triangle Film Corporation. Walter Edwards (director)
Walter Edwards (January 8, 1870 – April 12, 1920), was an American director, screenwriter and actor. He directed 46 films during his career. Edwards initially work at the Elitch Theatre was as a director in 1896, but he later returned for multiple seasons as an actor in the summer stock cast. "In 1896, Mrs. Elitch signed J. H. Huntley to direct a resident stock company... After six weeks of melodrama, however, and a few unsatisfactory notices, the organization of the company was changed. Huntley, who was not very popular with audiences or with newspaper reviewers, was replaced by Walter Edwards." On July 12, 1896, Edwards started as director and his first play was J. K. Tillotson's ''A Gilded Crime''. The newspaper review stated: "Walter Edwards' presence has strengthened the company materially..." Gertrude Claire
Gertrude Claire (July 16, 1852 – April 28, 1928) was an actress of the American stage and Hollywood silent motion pictures. Biography Claire was born in Chicago, Illinois, and began appearing onstage at the age of 16. She played minor roles in New York City. In the coming years she began to play leads. Among the actors of note she played with John Drew Jr., Edwin Booth, and Richard Mansfield. She began work in films while the industry was still based in New York. Then she moved to Hollywood, where she was part of the first motion picture playing company organized there. Claire had roles in 123 films beginning in 1910 and continuing until 1928. Her last appearance in movies was in the Clara Bow feature film ''Red Hair'' (1928). On April 28, 1928, Claire died at her home in Hollywood, aged 76. Fort De Bois-d'Arcy
The Fort de Bois-d'Arcy, also called the Batterie de Bois-d'Arcy, is one of the forts constructed at the end of the 19th century to defend Paris. It is located in the commune of Bois d'Arcy in the Yvelines département of France. The fort is located in the southern part of the town to the south of Route nationale 12. It is now the home of the French national film archives, the Centre national de la cinématographie. History Built between 1874 and 1881, the fort was planned to reinforce the western fortifications of Paris. The southwestern forts were designed to cover the approach of a relieving army from the western portions of France. The Bois-d'Arcy fort protected the neighboring Fort de Saint-Cyr, Versailles and the Camp de Satory, covering the Trappes valley and railway lines from Le Havre and Tours.
