The Cove, Stamford, Connecticut
The Cove is a neighborhood located in the southeast corner of Stamford, Connecticut. It is an area of mostly modest homes with some very expensive homes along the shoreline. History The Cove area was one of the first sections of Stamford to be cleared and divided among settlers. Noroton Heights Station
Noroton Heights station is a commuter rail stop on the Metro-North Railroad New Haven Line located in the Noroton Heights neighborhood of Darien, Connecticut. History As of January 2007, Northeast Utilities had plans to put an underground 345-kV cable along the south edge of the eastbound parking lot (just north of Interstate 95). The state Department of Transportation agreed to the location because it would "minimize the potential impact to any future parking structure built at this site." In 1989, the attractive former station building was slated for demolition. Instead, a group of Darien residents changed it into "The Depot", a youth center. The building remains at the far end of the train station, near the intersection of Noroton Avenue and Heights Road. Stamford Transportation Center
Stamford station, officially known as the Stewart B. McKinney Transportation Center or the Stamford Transportation Center, is a major railroad station in the city of Stamford, Connecticut, serving passengers traveling on Metro-North Railroad's New Haven Line, Amtrak's Northeast Corridor, and CTrail's Shore Line East. In addition, it is also a major bus terminal for Greyhound, Peter Pan, and CTtransit buses. The Metro-North Railroad New Haven Line is a commuter rail line running from New Haven, Connecticut to New York City. It joins the Harlem Line at Mount Vernon, New York and continues south to Grand Central Terminal in Manhattan. Shippan is a neighborhood the city of Stamford, Connecticut, located along the Long Island Sound. History Prior to the late 19th century, the area of present-day Shippan was largely agricultural. Starting around that time, Shippan Point (a section of Shippan) became a popular summer retreat for affluent New York City residents.
