Edvin Adolphson
Gustav Edvin Adolphson (25 February 1893 – 31 October 1979) was a Swedish film actor and director who appeared in over 500 roles. He made his debut in 1912. He appeared with Ingrid Bergman in ''Only One Night'' (1939), and is noted for his roles in the film ''Änglar, finns dom?'' (1961), the television version of August Strindberg's ''Hemsöborna'' (1966), and as Markurell in ''Markurells i Wadköping'' (1968). He also directed the first Swedish sound film, '' Säg det i toner'' in 1929. He was actress Harriet Bosse's third husband (1927–1932) and is father of actress Kristina Adolphson (b. 1937) and songwriter/composer Olle Adolphson (1934–2004). Adolphson was born in Furingstad, Sweden (Östergötland County), and died in Solna, a suburb of Stockholm, Sweden. A comedy film is a category of film which emphasizes humor. These films are designed to make the audience laugh through amusement. Films in this style traditionally have a happy ending (black comedy being an exception). Comedy is one of the oldest genres in film and it is derived from the classical comedy in theatre. Some of the earliest silent films were comedies, as slapstick comedy often relies on visual depictions, without requiring sound. When sound films became more prevalent during the 1930s, comedy films took another swing, as laughter could result from burlesque situations but also dialogue. Comedy, compared with other film genres, puts much more focus on individual stars, with many former stand-up comics transitioning to the film industry due to their popularity. Axel Stig Hansson (11 June 1900 – 29 October 1968), known professionally as Jules Sylvain, was a Swedish composer, screenwriter and musician. Sylvain was born in Stockholm to actor Axel Hansson and actress and pedagog Valborg Hansson. At the age of 11, Sylvain began studying music at Lundsbergs boarding school but ran away from the school after four years. He studied piano lessons at Musikaliska Akademien between 1918 and 1920 and then continued to study at Music high school in Weimar between 1920 and 1922. He got his first income in 1918 as a café pianist in Stockholm. After that he worked as a musician in Germany for a few years.
