The Constant One
''The Constant One'' is the second studio album by Long Island, New York punk rock band Iron Chic. This album marks the band's first release on Bridge 9 Records. The band recorded the album in guitarist Phil Douglas' Hobo House studio. Background After 3 years of on and off touring in support of Not Like This and releasing the ''Split 'N Shit'' and ''Spooky Action'' EP's (the title track off the latter was re-recorded for The Constant One), Bridge Nine Records expressed interest in signing the band in which the band decided to officially start writing their follow up. The album is notable in being more optimistic in tone than its predecessor while also featuring slower and mid tempo songs such as the aforementioned "Spooky Action (At A Distance)" and the introspective "(Castle) Numbskull" as well as more observational and personal lyrics. Iron Chic is an American rock band from Long Island, New York, United States. The band consists of Phil Douglas, Jason Lubrano, Gordon Lafler, Mike Bruno, and Jesse Litwa. The band has released 3 records to date. All three of their albums have received positive reviews on websites such as Pitchfork, Noisey and PunkNews.org. The band released their third album and first for SideOneDummy Records, titled ''You Can't Stay Here'', on October 13, 2017. Background Iron Chic was formed in 2008 after the dissolution of Phil Douglas' and Brian Crozier's former band Latterman. Following Latterman's break up, Douglas initially joined Small Arms Dealer as a drummer which featured vocalist Jason Lubrano. Rate Your Music (often abbreviated to RYM) is an online collaborative database of music releases and films. Users can catalog items from their personal collection, review them, and assign ratings in a five-star rating system. The site also features community-based charts that track highest-rated releases. History Rate Your Music was founded on December 24, 2000, by Seattle resident Hossein Sharifi, who is still active on the site under the username "sharifi". The first version of the site, "RYM 1.0," allowed users to rate and catalog releases, as well as to write reviews, create lists and add artists and releases to the database. Bridge 9 Records is an American hardcore punk record label located outside Boston, Massachusetts. Bridge Nine is owned by Chris Wrenn of Salem, Massachusetts, who began the label in 1995 and produced its first release in 1996. The label is named as a metaphor for what Wrenn wanted to do in creating the label: bridge all parts of the hardcore scene into one label and then put his lucky number (nine) in the title. ''Pitchfork'' (formerly ''Pitchfork Media'') is an American online music publication (currently owned by Condé Nast) that was launched in 1995 by writer Ryan Schreiber as an independent music blog. ''You Can't Stay Here'' is the third studio album by Long Island punk rock band Iron Chic. Like the band's previous work, the album was recorded in guitarist Phil Douglas' studio, The Hobo House. This was the first album with former Broadcaster guitarist Jesse Litwa replacing the late Rob McAllister on guitar. Background Following the touring for The Constant One in 2015, the band parted ways with guitarist Rob McAllister. Mattie Jo Canino of Latterman, RVIVR and Tender Defender filled in temporarily before Broadcaster guitarist Jesse Litwa assumed the role permanently shortly thereafter. Upon reconvening to begin writing sessions for the album- the band was informed that former guitarist Rob McAllister had died.
