The Constant Factor
''The Constant Factor'' ( pl, Constans) is a 1980 Polish film directed by Krzysztof Zanussi. It tells the story of a young man struggling to face the death of his mother and harbouring a desire to climb the Himalayas as his father had done. The film won the Jury Prize and the Prize of the Ecumenical Jury at the 1980 Cannes Film Festival. Plot Witold, a graduate of the electrical technical school, participates in high-mountain climbing during his military service. One of the mountaineers at the shelter mentions father Witold, who once died during a mountain expedition. Thanks to the business card received from this mountaineer, Witek, after completing his military service, gets a job in an exhibition organization company. Thanks to this, he can go on business to India. While visiting the country, he notices that his boss, Mariusz, is committing fraudulent visa settlements. Krzysztof Zanussi
Krzysztof Pius Zanussi (born 17 June 1939) is a Polish film and theatre director, producer and screenwriter. He is a professor of European film at the European Graduate School in Saas-Fee, Switzerland where he conducts a summer workshop. He is also a professor at the Krzysztof Kieślowski Film School of the University of Silesia in Katowice. He is the recipient of the Golden Lion at the 1984 Venice Film Festival for ''A Year of the Quiet Sun'', the Jury Prize at the 1980 Cannes Film Festival for ''The Constant Factor'' as well as two Grands Prix at the 1977 and 2000 Gdynia Film Festival for ''Camouflage'' and ''Life as a Fatal Sexually Transmitted Disease'' respectively. Cezary Morawski (born 5 June 1954 in Szczecin) is a Polish film, theatre and television actor, as well as a voiceover provider for film dubbing and video games. Biography He is the son of the Polish actor Tomasz Morawski. In 1977 he graduated from the Aleksander Zelwerowicz National Academy of Dramatic Art in Warsaw.
