Custard (band)
Custard are an Australian indie rock band formed in 1989 in Brisbane, Queensland. The band is colloquially known as "Custaro" () due to frequent misreadings of its name. History 1989–1993: Formation and early EPs The band was originally known as Custard Gun and featured David McCormack on vocals and guitar, Paul Medew on bass (McCormack and Medew both ex-Who's Gerald?), James Straker (later in The Melniks) on guitar and Shane Brunn (who later formed Hugbubble and Vanlustbader) on drums. After a few shows and line up changes (namely Straker being replaced by Matthew Strong) Custard Gun morphed into Custard in early 1990. Custard's first release was the four track vinyl EP ''Rockfish Anna'', which was issued in November 1990. A fire breathing Elvis impersonator was part of the EP's launch festivities. Alternative rock, or alt-rock, is a category of rock music that emerged from the independent music underground of the 1970s and became widely popular in the 1990s. Pop Rock
Pop rock (also typeset as pop/rock) is a fusion genre with an emphasis on professional songwriting and recording craft, and less emphasis on attitude than rock music. Indie Rock
Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Originally used to describe independent record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock or "Pop rock, guitar pop rock". One of the primary scenes of the movement was Dunedin, where Dunedin sound, a cultural scene based around a convergence of noise pop and jangle became popular among the city's University of Otago, large student population. ''Respect All Lifeforms'' is the eighth studio album by Australian alternative rock band Custard, released on 22 May 2020 by ABC Music. The album was preceded by the release of the single "Funky Again", which was accompanied by a video directed by longtime collaborator Andrew Lancaster. Background The album's basic tracking was conducted at Poonshead Studio in Fremantle, Western Australia in one day. Glenn Thompson (musician)
Glenn Thompson (born 6 December 1964) is an Australian musician who first came to prominence in Brisbane, Queensland, playing in the popular local bands Madam Bones Brothel with Pearly Black and John Rodgers, and COW with Robert Moore and David McCormack. Thompson played drums with Robert Forster of The Go-Betweens on his second solo album ''Calling from a Country Phone'' in 1993. He then toured Europe in 1994 with Forster and members of German band Baby You Know, Robert Pöschl and Michael Schott. For Robert Forster's world tour of 1996, Thompson was joined by Adele Pickvance on bass. Thompson and Pickvance were called Warm Nights after Forster's fourth solo release which was also titled ''Warm Nights''. Music career In 1997 Thompson joined Brisbane band Custard. Piccolo Trumpet
The piccolo trumpet is the smallest member of the trumpet family, pitched one octave higher than the standard B trumpet. Most piccolo trumpets are built to play in either B or A, using a separate leadpipe for each key. The tubing in the B piccolo trumpet is one-half the length of that in a standard B trumpet. Piccolo trumpets in G, F, and even high C are also manufactured, but are rarer. The piccolo trumpet should not be confused with the pocket trumpet, which plays in the same pitch as the regular B trumpet.
