The Common Guild
The Common Guild is a visual arts organisation in Glasgow, Scotland. It was established in 2006 and has commissioned two Turner Prize-nominated works: Duncan Campbell in 2014 and Janice Kerbel in 2015. The Common Guild is located in a Victorian townhouse owned by Glasgow artist Douglas Gordon. The building houses The Common Guild's offices, a library designed by artist Andrew Miller containing books belonging to Douglas Gordon, and public event and exhibition spaces. In 2019, the event and exhibition spaces are due to close while the organisation continues its off-site project work and looks for a new permanent exhibition space. Exhibitions hosted by The Common Guild have included solo shows by Martin Creed, Steven Claydon, Roni Horn, Tacita Dean, Wolfgang Tillmans and Roman Ondák; and numerous group shows. Emily Jacir
Emily Jacir ( ar, املي جاسر) is a Palestinian artist and filmmaker. Biography Jacir was born in Bethlehem in 1973, Jacir spent her childhood in Saudi Arabia, attending high school in Italy. She attended the University of Dallas, Memphis College of Art and graduated with an art degree. She divides her time between New York and Ramallah. She is the older sister of the filmmaker and artist Annemarie Jacir. Work and career Jacir works in a variety of media including film, photography, installation, performance, video, writing and sound. Hayley Tompkins
Hayley Tompkins (born 1971) is a British artist based in Glasgow. She is best known for her minimal works that bridge painting and object-making. Her paintings and installations include everyday, found objects. Her twin sister is the visual and sound artist Sue Tompkins. Early life and education Tompkins was born in 1971 in Leighton Buzzard. Hayley earned a BA in painting and an MFA from The Glasgow School of Art. Career Tompkins primarily works in small-format watercolour painting and lo-fi sculptures. She created a series of works she called ''Metabuilts''. These ready-mades are often painted and assembled together. They occasionally include found photographs or fragments of photographs. Thea Djordjadze
Tea Jorjadze Thea Djordjadze ( ka, თეა ჯორჯაძე; born 1971 in Tbilisi, Georgia) is a contemporary artist based in Berlin, Germany. She is best known for sculpture and installation art, but also works in a variety of other media (drawing, painting, printing, performance, video, music). Career Tea Jorjadze studied at the Academy of Arts in Tbilisi from 1988–1993. Due to the Georgian Civil War the school was closed in 1993. Robert Barry (artist)
Robert Barry (born March 9, 1936 in the Bronx, New York) is an American artist. Since 1967, Barry has produced non-material works of art, installations, and performance art using a variety of otherwise invisible media. Mircea Cantor (born 1977) is a Romanian-born artist who follows in the tradition of French artist Marcel Duchamp in that he employs readymade objects.Demos, T.J. Spencer Finch
Spencer Finch (born 1962 in New Haven, Connecticut) is an American artist. After attending The Hotchkiss School, he graduated '' magna cum laude'' with a B.A. in comparative literature from Hamilton College in 1985. Finch then pursued an M.F.A. in sculpture from the Rhode Island School of Design, graduating in 1989. The first retrospective of his work, which ended in March 2008, was assembled at MASS MoCA in North Adams, MA. He currently lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
