The Collector (2005 Film)
''The Collector'' ( pl, Komornik) is a 2005 Polish drama film directed by Feliks Falk. It was the Polish submission for the 2005 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. Shooting for the film began in November 2004 and was completed on January 5, 2005. Shooting was taken in Warsaw and Wałbrzych. Plot The "collector" of the title is Lucjan Bohme, a bailiff employed to collect debts for a court in the town of Wałbrzych. He carries out his job with ruthless efficiency until a meeting with a former girlfriend, now struggling to bring up her child, leads him to question his attitudes. Feliks Falk ps. ''Robert F. Lane'', ''Edward Neyman'' (born 25 February 1941) is a Polish film and theater director as well as writer of film scripts, stage plays, television plays, and radio shows. A 1966 graduate of Warsaw's Academy of Fine Arts, he also is a painter and graphic artist. Falk is one of creators of the 1970s wave of Polish cinematography, called Cinema of Moral Anxiety. Marian Opania (, born 1 February 1943) is a Polish film actor and singer. He has appeared in more than 50 films since 1965. Biography He was born on 1 February 1943 in Puławy as the second son of Julian and Jadwiga. His father was a forester and an infantry officer in the Polish Army, he died in the Warsaw Uprising. In the years 1964–1971 he performed at the Classic Theater in Warsaw, then at the Studio Theater (1971–1977), the Kwadrat Theater (1978) and the Komedia Theater (1979–1981). Jan Frycz (born 15 May 1954) is a Polish screen and stage actor. He was nominated for six Polish Academy Awards, winning twice for his supporting roles in the films ''Pornografia'' (2003) and ''The Welts'' (2004). Biography Frycz's father was a mining engineer and disliked his interest in acting; he argued that a boy should have a more stable job.
