''The Classic'' ( fi, Klassikko) is a 2001 Finnish comedy film directed by Kari Väänänen. It is based on Kari Hotakainen's semi-autobiographical novel ''Klassikko''. The film stars Martti Suosalo as writer Kari Hotakainen who receives an assignment from his publisher to write a confessional autobiographical novel. Pertti Sveholm won the best supporting actor Jussi Award for his role as police lieutenant Vikström. Kari Väänänen
Kari Kyösti Väänänen (born 17 September 1953 in Ivalo) is a Finnish actor and director. Domestically he is a member of the Ryhmäteatteri group of actors. He was introduced to international audiences by Aki Kaurismäki, and belongs to the list of his "trusted" stable of actors. Väänänen has acted in more than 60 movies. He has received two Jussi awards, for best male actor in ''Jon'' (1983) and for best supporting male actor in ''Trench Road'' (2004). His performance as the monster Gollum in Yle's 1993 television series ''Hobitit'' was praised in ''Helsingin Sanomat''. In 1992–1998 Väänänen was a professor at the Helsinki Theatre Academy. Arvi Lind
Arvi Kullervo Lind (born December 21, 1940) is a retired Finnish television news presenter. He worked as the news anchor on Yleisradio TV1 from 1965 to 2003. Along with Kari Toivonen, he was one of the longest-serving employees of Yleisradio news. Lind was born in Lauritsala. His career as a reporter in Yleisradio TV news began on October 15, 1965. His last news broadcast was on Wednesday, October 15, 2003, at 20:30 EEST, and he retired from his work at the beginning of year 2004. The farewell broadcast was seen by over 1.6 million viewers. Since then, he has lectured about his work in universities, and in 2005, the newspaper ''Keskisuomalainen'' appointed him as their reader ombudsman. Jussi Award
The Jussi Awards are Finland's premier film industry prizes, awarded annually to recognize the achievements of directors, actors, and writers. History The first Jussi Awards ceremony was held on 16 November 1944 at the Restaurant Adlon in Helsinki. The award is one of the oldest films awards in Europe. The original planned name for the prize was ''Aino'', but Jussi won in the end. The name comes from a character in the 1924 and 1936 Pohjalaisia films. The awards were originally organized by the ''Elokuvajournalistit'' organization, but the task was transferred in the early 1960s to the ''Filmiaura'' organization, composed of around 300 members working in the Finnish film industry. Because of the controversy surrounding the transfer, no awards were handed out in 1960 and 1961.
