The Circle (1925 Film)
''The Circle'' is a 1925 American silent romantic comedy film directed by Frank Borzage. The film stars Eleanor Boardman, Malcolm McGregor, and Alec B. Francis. A young Joan Crawford (whose name was changed that year from Lucille LeSueur through a contest run by the studio) appears in the film's opening scene and later in a photograph viewed by other characters. The screenplay, written by Kenneth B. Clarke, was based on the 1921 play of the same title by W. Somerset Maugham. The play was filmed again by MGM as an early sound release (also released in a silent version) in 1930 as '' Strictly Unconventional''. Sammy Hagar and the Circle (also known as The Circle) is an English-American rock supergroup band originally formed in Miami in 2014, consisting of former Montrose and Van Halen vocalist Sammy Hagar, original Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony, drummer Jason Bonham and guitarist Vic Johnson. The group released a live album called '' At Your Service'' on 19 May 2015, and a live DVD of the same name in December of that same year. ''The Circle'' (Swedish title ''Cirkeln'') is a Swedish young adult fantasy novel written by Mats Strandberg and Sara Bergmark Elfgren. It is the first part of the ''Engelsfors'' trilogy. The novel takes place in a fictional rural town in Bergslagen in central Sweden and follows a group of teenage girls with little in common who discover that they are witches chosen to save the world from an otherworldly evil. In addition to the fantasy theme, the novel also uses tropes of horror fiction, psychological realism and the unreliable narrator. The novel has been sold for publication in 21 different languages in addition to Swedish. Random House released the English translation in the UK on June 7, 2012, and in other English-speaking countries during the summer of 2012.
