''The Christmas Tree Ship'' is the second EP by I Like Trains. It was released on 24 November 2008. It is an entirely instrumental concept album, based on the storm that sank the Rouse Simmons. I Like Trains
I Like Trains (previously styled as iLiKETRAiNS) is an English alternative/post-rock band, formed in Leeds, West Yorkshire. It draws its inspiration from historical failings and a pessimistic world view. I Like Trains has had its music used in Hollywood film trailers, advertisements and television, including an episode of ''CSI: Miami''. History of I Like Trains Beginnings and debut album : 2004–2008 I Like Trains was formed in 2004 and consists of David Martin (lead vocals, guitar), Guy Bannister (guitar, synthesisers and vocals), Alistair Bowis (bass guitar, synthesisers and vocals) and Simon Fogal (drums). That year, they self-released a single called "Autumn 2004". Post-Rock
Post-rock is a form of experimental rock characterized by a focus on exploring textures and timbre over traditional rock song structures, chords, or riffs. Post-rock artists are often instrumental, typically combining rock instrumentation with electronics. The genre emerged within the indie and underground music scene of the 1980s and early 1990s. Beggars Banquet Records is a British independent record label. Beggars Banquet started as a chain of record shops owned by Martin Mills and Nick Austin and is part of the Beggars Group of labels. History In 1977, spurred by the prevailing DIY aesthetics of the British punk rock movement (then at the height of its popularity), Martin Mills and Nick Austin founded a record label to release records under the Beggars Banquet imprint. The first band on the label was the English punk group the Lurkers; the first release on the label was the Lurkers' 7" single "Shadow"/"Love Story". They also released the first solo "Duffo" album from Australian big-band vocalist Jeff Duff. Later in the decade and into the early 1980s, hits with Tubeway Army and Gary Numan secured the label's future. He Who Saw The Deep
''He Who Saw The Deep'' is the second album by Leeds band I Like Trains. It was released on 4 October 2010. Having left Beggars Banquet Records when it went bust in 2008, the group had no record label to distribute the album. Following the writing and recording of the album, the band started a Pledgemusic project in July 2010 to get fan funding in order to master the album, promote it and tour it. They offered various exclusives to backers who pledged certain amounts. They succeeded in surpassing their target funding and released the album on their own label ILR. It received generally positive reviews, with ''The Line of Best Fit'' describing it as "a tender collection of songs that rely on passion rather than sentiment". Many reviewers noted a change in musical style, with ''musicOMH'' noting the lyrics were "now looking to the future" compared to their previous songs focused on historical people or events. The ''Rouse Simmons'' was a three-masted schooner famous for having sunk in a violent storm on Lake Michigan in 1912. The ship was bound for Chicago with a cargo of Christmas trees when it foundered off Two Rivers, Wisconsin, killing all on board. A Christmas tree is a decorated tree, usually an evergreen conifer, such as a spruce, pine or fir, or an artificial tree of similar appearance, associated with the celebration of Christmas. The custom was further developed in early modern Germany where German Protestant Christians brought decorated trees into their homes. Lake Michigan
Lake Michigan is one of the five Great Lakes of North America. It is the second-largest of the Great Lakes by volume () and the third-largest by surface area (), after Lake Superior and Lake Huron.
