''The Cherry Picker'', also known as ''The Quiet Life'', is a 1972 British drama film directed by Peter Curran and starring Lulu, Bob Sherman, Wilfrid Hyde-White, Spike Milligan, Patrick Cargill, Jack Hulbert, Fiona Curzon, Terry-Thomas and Robert Hutton. As of August 2014, the film was missing from the BFI National Archive; although inferior quality copies are still in circulation it is still listed as one of the British Film Institute's " 75 Most Wanted" lost films due to the loss of the original print. Peter Curran (director)
Peter Curran (26 September 1924 – 15 June 1999) was a British television scriptwriter, film director, editor and producer. He co-wrote four episodes of the Supermarionation television series ''Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons'' in the 1960s, forming a writing duo with David Williams: " White as Snow", "Point 783", " Seek and Destroy", "Noose of Ice" (wrongly credited to Tony Barwick) and " The Launching". Curran's film credits include ''The Cherry Picker'' (1972; as screenwriter, producer, director and editor) and '' A Touch of the Sun'' (1979; screenwriter, director, editor). He also directed '' Male Bait'' (1971), '' Penelope Pulls it Off'' (1975) and '' Tell it like it is, Boys'' (1981). Monica "Nikki" van der Zyl (27 April 1935 – 6 March 2021) was a German actress based in the United Kingdom, known for her dubbing work on the ''James Bond'' film franchise. Early life Nikki van der Zyl was born on 27 April 1935 in Berlin, the daughter of Anneliese and Rabbi Dr. Werner van der Zyl. Career As a voice-over artist, she provided the voice of the character of Honey Ryder (Ursula Andress) as well as several other minor female characters, in '' Dr. No''. Van der Zyl also provided dialogue coaching to Gert Fröbe, whose English was limited, for the movie '' Goldfinger'' and continued to work as a voice-over artist for the series until '' Moonraker.'' Marianne Stone (23 August 1922 – 21 December 2009) was an English character actress. She performed in films from the early 1940s to the late 1980s, typically playing working class parts such as barmaids, secretaries and landladies. Stone appeared in nine of the ''Carry On'' films, and took part in an episode of the ''Carry On Laughing'' television series ("The Case of the Screaming Winkles"). She also had supporting roles with comedian Norman Wisdom.
