''The Cause & Effect'' is the debut studio album by American rapper Nissim, then known as D. Black. It was released on March 7, 2007 by Sportn' Life Records. Jake One, Bean One, & Vitamin D contributed to the production. Nissim (rapper)
Nissim Baruch Black (born Damian Jamohl Black; December 9, 1986) is an American rapper, songwriter, and record producer. Under the stage name D. Black, he released the albums ''The Cause & Effect'' (2006) and ''Ali'yah (album), Ali'yah'' (2009) and was featured on producer Jake One's debut album ''White Van Music'' (2008). He retired in 2011 to focus on his conversion to Orthodox Judaism, but soon returned under his new legal name Nissim Black and began focusing on Jewish hip hop. He appeared on Shtar's song "Boss EP, Rabbit Hole" (2012) and has since released the mixtapes ''Miracle Music'' (2013) and ''Love Notes'' (2020), as well as the studio albums ''Nissim'' (2013), ''Lemala'' (2017), and ''Gibor'' (2019). ''Ali'yah'' is the second studio album by American rapper D. Black, released on September 15, 2009, through Sportn' Life Records. It was produced by Black, B. Brown, Vitamin D, and Jake One. The album was influenced by Black's Messianic Jewish faith at the time, displaying a more spiritual and socially conscious outlook than the gangsta rap stylings of his previous work. The album's title is a Hebrew word meaning "ascent"; the term "aliyah" is often used to refer to the immigration of Jews to the Land of Israel. This would be Black's last album before his temporary retirement; he would later return in 2012 as an Orthodox Jewish rapper under the name Nissim. The Vera Project
The Vera Project, or VERA, is an all-ages, non-profit youth arts organization in Seattle, Washington. Overview Based on the Vera club in Groningen, Netherlands. The name Vera comes from the phrase Veri Et Recti Amici, which is Latin meaning "true and sincere friends". Seattle's VERA Project was founded in 2001 by James Keblas, Shannon Stewart (both studied at the University of Groningen in 1999), and Kate Becker (founder of the Old Redmond Firehouse), along with the help of many other community organizers and the City of Seattle. Capitol Hill Block Party
The Capitol Hill Block Party is an annual three-day music festival and block party held each July in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle, Washington, United States. Performance genres include pop, R&B, indie rock, punk, EDM, and many more. The festival has featured numerous famous acts over the years including Macklemore, Mudhoney, The Presidents of the United States of America, Jack White, Sonic Youth, Lizzo, RL Grime, and Amine. The festival has attracted several major brand sponsorships and even created a donation program for several non-profit organizations. Blue Scholars
Blue Scholars is an American hip hop duo based in Seattle, Washington, created in 2002 while the members, DJ Sabzi (Saba Mohajerjasbi) and MC Geologic (George Quibuyen), were students at University of Washington. The name "Blue Scholars" is a play on the term "blue collar," an idiom for workers who often earn hourly wages for manual labor.
