The Caulfields
The Caulfields were an American alternative rock band from Newark, Delaware, Newark, Delaware which recorded two albums for A&M Records in the late 1990s. The group was led by singer-songwriter John Faye, the frontman for the Philadelphia-based groups IKE. The group is best known for their song "Devil's Diary." Their first album was 1995's ''Whirligig''. The album's initial single was "Devil's Diary", which received limited radio play as well as exposure on MTV. "Devil's Diary" peaked at No. 61 in Australia. The band toured Australia on the back of airplay on popular youth radio station Triple J, supporting Australian band Died Pretty. Two weeks before the release of their second album ''L'' in 1997, A&M Records fired the Artists and repertoire, A&R executive representing the band. Six months later the Caulfields disbanded. Pop Rock
Pop rock (also typeset as pop/rock) is a fusion genre with an emphasis on professional songwriting and recording craft, and less emphasis on attitude than rock music. Originating in the late 1950s as an alternative to normal rock and roll, early pop rock was influenced by the beat, arrangements, and original style of rock and roll (and sometimes doo-wop). A&M Records was an American record label founded as an independent company by Herb Alpert and Jerry Moss in 1962. Due to the success of the discography A&M released, the label garnered interest and was acquired by PolyGram in 1989 and began distributing releases from Polydor Ltd. from the UK. John Faye
John Faye (born 1966) is a singer-songwriter from Newark, Delaware. John first rose to the spotlight as front man of The Caulfields, who were signed to A&M Records from 1995 to 1997 He has also been involved with a few other projects in the Philadelphia area, most notably with IKE and as half of the duo John & Brittany from 2011 until their final show on October 17, 2014. John attended the University of Delaware and graduated with a degree in English. John's new backing band goes by the name "Those Meddling Kids". Died Pretty, sometimes The Died Pretty, is an Australian alternative rock band founded by mainstays Ron Peno (lead singer) and Brett Myers (lead guitarist and backing vocalist) in Sydney in 1983. The band was briefly called Final Solution. Their music started from a base of early electric Bob Dylan with psychedelic influences, including The Velvet Underground and Television. They were managed by John Needham, who is the owner of Citadel Records, their main label.
